Sure is looking stronger and more demonic. Great to see, and let''s hope it comes out on game day.

Given that he is stick thin and makes Weideman look muscled I think there might be a deceptive camera angle in that shot with Hogan.

Would be interested in training observers' comments

I am still stoked we landed Fritsch. I thought at beginning of trade night, if we walked away with Fritsch I'd be happy, anything more is a bonus. I don't know much about the others. I have only seen Fritsch play a handful of times - but he looked impressive. I remember watching Mitch Hannan play most of his games the year we drafted him, and I was happy we landed him, he did it against men, and his frame wasn't a limitation. I don't expect Fritsch frame to limit him at all. I think he may play early. There is nothing about his game that suggests he has to put on size (at least in respect of contributing at AFL level - size will naturally come in time). So its a good get for mine. Hope he does well.

What a level headed bloke. Hope he gets a shot early in the season.

Finals selections can be horribly tough.

You have had a fabulous debut season and it is only match ups that have denied you the preliminary final.

IF we win GF match ups may well see you back, otherwise I am looking forward to an even better 2019 and beyond.

You are already my second favourite #31 of all times and it is no disgrace to come second to the great RDB

GO DEES

As a whole I couldn’t be more proud. What a magnificent season. A sparky playing for Casey 12 months ago is now a fully fledged AFL player. This setback will be the making of him again.

Most of us know it can be cold in Coldstream

Most of us know you will be Redhot in the next 2 weeks as you have been all year

If we get into the granny, suspect that they will hold Fritsch back from the VFL final.

Others as well.

(as reported).

He's already had the longest first year for any Demon since at least 2006. That's a fine start to what will hopefully be a long and illustrious career. And for what it's worth, I think in the last couple of weeks he has looked like the long season has finally caught up with him.

He has already played in a premiership for us...............(AFLX)

I assume fritsch has played too many games to qualify for the VFL final..?

Poor kid, it’s a ruthless business trying to win flags and he’s very stiff. But I suspect he still has a lot of improvement left in him and will be back even better

Has has definitely been looking tired over the last three weeks especially.

Fritsch should play for Casey in the Gf.

Mfc playing so he automatically should be eligible.

Fritsch has mates at Casey and it would be still an amazing experience.

I thought he was playing ok to keep his place. Tough call. But Goody knows best

Not surprising.   He had  to play a totally different role once Lever went down.

He is rail thin and has been filling the hole at half back taking intercept marks with big forwards smashing into him.  Took a nice mark in front of Roughy last week.

If Lever never went down,  Fritsch would be have continued playing wing-half forward.  Remember when he kicked 4 goals vs St Kilda?  He was one of the few Demons to show up that day.

Seriously unlucky this week, but the kid is a gun.

Agree but should we win for mine he's straight back in. Joel Smith is in purely to cover the fact WC play 2 huge forwards and will have either Vardy or Lycett deep resting. We can't afford to lose Hibberds attacking ability in playing man coverage on them so we had to play Smith. If we win, neither Tiges or Pies have the same lineup and I'd say there's no spot for Joel so I hope he keeps his head up - he's in my GF team should we be good enough to make it....

feel sorrow for him, not his fault he was shifted away from his favourite position to role play in the backline

Yes, his focus has waned, thru tiredness... past 3 matches or so.

I'm not sure if one match off will do it now.

He's fatigued and looks spent.   His heart says go for it,,, his head looks clouded.

It's a horses for courses decision.

The good thing for Bayley is that if we win and make the GF the horses are different to this week.

Tigers have one ruck and one key forward, with Pies having another ruckman/forward.

The match ups then suit Bayley, who could replace Joel, unless Joel has a blinder and another fringe player has a bad one.

It says a lot for our depth now that we can leave a player like Fritsch out.

How's that first round pick for Lever looking? With free agency compensation and priority picks, we might be giving up pick 20.

If we win tomorrow I wouldn't play Fritsch in the VFL Grand Final so he is fresh for the AFL Grand Final.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
