tyson: absolute butcher of the ball, poor 2 way running and refuses to man up, slower than gawn, has no left foot, gets caught holding the ball too often

salem: small, lacks pace, poor 2 way runner and gets beaten by his opponent too often, kicks get smothered frequently, not fit enough to play midfield, can' take a mark

vince: so slow, handballs to the ground, poor defensive skills, butcher's the ball

I would hardly say they're best 22

But they are

If we trade Salem and Tyson out - presumably for speculative draft picks (and we know how how bad we are at picking young talent) then we have NO ONE to come in to replace them, considering our mids at vfl level are JKH and Maynard

Our midfield depth is atrocious

Salem and Tyson are leaps and bounds ahead of ether of those guys or flanker depth like ANB, Harmes and Stretch

Far too many NQRs in our side

Also, remember how we recruited Melksham to supposedly add to our midfield rotation? He’s just another flanker - but he’s miles ahead of others

Our list profile is lopsided to mid-paced outsiders - if we trade Salem and Tyson out we would be even more disastrously balanced

id have petty viney and spargo ahead of those 3, maybe even Joel Smith. I know they're kids but they'd give more of a dip than those 3

I'd suggest the following delistings at years end.

VandenBerg - can't get on the park, 2 years since he's played, was borderline 22 when he did play, 28 years old when/if he makes it back from years of injury. Delist.

McKenna - can't get on the park, 0 games in 4 years. Delist.

JKH - Decent VFL player, can't translate his game to AFL level. 5-6 years on the list. He's depth at best. Delist.

Johnstone - struggling to even get his game up to VFL level after 2 years. We have a number of other options in his forward pocket/flank position.

There are a number of others on the list who are likely not going to make it long term (Wagner, Harmes, Stretch types), but we have to consider contract status and the need for depth. We also don't have any first round pick again this year, so we won't be bringing in elite talent to replace whoever we delist. VandenBerg and McKenna are the only certain delists, as we can't afford to waste spots on the list for guys that aren't even an option to play, and are not certain best 22 even when they are available!

spot on your Lordship.

Our ability to dramatically impact the list is limited unless we trade one of our few better players.

Last years draftees are not without talent. Hopefully we get some AFL level impact from them in the second half of the season.

I would be adding any player that was involved in the "not going to the camp fiasco". They are just adding to the often exposed soft underbelly of this club. Do not care who they are  just get rid of them.

the funny thing about this is that roos has said we were going to take billings if we'd held onto pick 2 that year

he's as accurate a kick for goal as tomas bugg...

Gone. Jkh Vandenburg McKenna. Johnstone  T.Smith (r) Filipivic (r)

On thin ice. Bugg (highly likely to go)

question marks.  Wagner. Kent. Vince (retire). J-Smith. Balic (need to see him given a go)  Stretch needs to step up

trade options - Frost looms most likely

Pedersen - always seems to go year by year. Always handy IMO

Baker and Hannan will be given another year

Lewis has one more year to serve on contract after this year and would be 33 at end of 2019

Kielty and Maynard given another rookie year

Mitch King stays as more development

Overall think 8 spots available with 5 delisted, vince to retire, and two rookies gone

need to get a free agent or delisted FA

JKH is a certainty to be delisted as is Bugg and Johnstone.

On thin ice: T.Smith and Keilty and we will wait and see how Pedersen finishes off the year before we decide his future.

Filipovic is developing I think he will get another contract before Keilty.

vandenBerg  and McKenna haven't been given a chance due to injury. I think they will stay on the list if not they will be re rookied.

Stretch deserves to be delisted, J.Smith and Balic don't.

Vince and Lewis even though he's got 1 year left on his contract must consider retirement.

We must throw everything at Gaff.

Not really but he always gets it about 30 times a game which is nothing to be sneezed at.

Trade Jones out of respect and shop Gawn to see if you can bring in a midfielder that can run and kick. Gawn is the most overrated player in the AFL. Zero to show for his ruck "dominance" and played better last year with him not there.

Wow! Hardly earth shattering stuff here

King - who's he?

Johnstone? What? Who?

Vanders....omg

JKH - should've gone with Dawesy, despite amusing Saty with his gun shots

Maynard or Magner? Same same

Understand this topic is about delisting's but should the question not be how do we trade, draft talent to improve the list?

Not sure how we can attract the talent (players with pace and skills) we are seeking when we only have a second and two thirds in this years draft.

The bath has been empty for ages mate and the baby is now a teenager. This sh*t has been going on for far too long. Time to clear out the last players from the dark days and start again.

Find a competitive physical ruckman on the cheap like Richmond did. Gawn will have trade value higher than what he offers MFC on field. The Lever trade is diabolically bad given the holes in our midfield. Gotta get back into the early part of the draft and it's going to take a Gawn, Hogan or Petracca to do that.

Gawn gone. Skating on thin ice Kielty,Maynard,Bugg,Harmes.  Keep Pedo. Add White from Casey to rookie list.  Dual captains gone, what lame idea this was. We need someone other than Oliver to step up as a champion mid. As silly as it may sound J.Smith has to be groomed for the future as a mid.We cannot rely on Tracca,Brayshaw or Salem.

And what have we got to throw now?

Not thrilled by another slow cooked midget looking for a retirement benefit.

Lynch is the game changer forget second prize.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is achieved by having Lewis retire? If he's contracted we can't replace him on the list, and his salary is part of our cap, isn't it?

If he retires before the drafts we can replace him. Lumumba retired after the drafts that's why we couldn't replace him.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
