"If rumours that Jesse Hogan wants to head to WA are true then the full forward could easily get the required currency for Melbourne, while Jake Stringer should also provide another early selection for the Dogs.

Collingwood may need to get more creative, possibly moving their third rounder up if Alex Fasolo should ask for a trade closer to the support of family and friends in the west. The fact the Pies hold the earliest current pick of the known suitors could be crucial.

While the process will doubtlessly get a lot more complicated, these could be the basics of how Lever’s price could be paid:

Melbourne: Out - Jesse Hogan, pick 10.  In - Jake Lever, Lachie Weller, pick 35.
Adelaide: Out - Jake Lever, pick 35.  In - Picks seven and 10.
Fremantle: Out Pick seven, Lachie Weller.  In - Jesse Hogan."

Hogan on song is a premiership winning player.

Lever is a nice to have ... no thanks

PS ask again at the end of next season if Hogan does not have a top 3 (club wise) year

The rumour about Hogan was floated some weeks ago, after he broke his collarbone, and was quickly knocked on the head by the club. Don't think he would have tried so hard to get back if that was the case, could have easily said I'm done for the year.

Fremantle get Hogan

Adelaide get pick 5

Dees get Lever (and pick 16 from Crows).

???

Might be 17 from Crows if they win the flag (GWS have no 1st rounder this year), possibly even higher once academy and f/s bidding are completed. Crows would want more than 5 for losing Lever + 17. And we'd seek more than Lever and 17 for Hogan. Freo are massive winners there.

Letting Hogan leave would set our finals chances back a long way as we'd effectively have no decent key forward. TMac, Watts, Pedo and Weid aren't that. Had Hogan played 20 games this year I have no doubt we would have seen at least 1 MFC final

Would prefer the other Lauchie from that club. Apparently wants to come back to Melbourne anyway.

Hogan isn't going anywhere.

I do however wonder if dean Kent and pick 10 could be upgraded to pick 7

and then pick 7 and a 2018 second round pick could get lever of the line

I don't and I won't. As I said, I had a mate call me and tell me so then went searching for the article for others. I still wouldn't be surprised to see Hoges go home due to what's happened this year, but I want him to stay. Poor lad, not too many his age would've been through that. Tough kid

For the last ten years through September and October I've devoted most of my time like most on threads like these, it all changes next year....... hopefully.

why would we not just take freo's pick 5 for Hogan and maybe swap some other back end picks, as he is worth more than just pick 5 as he is an established mature talent that lifts their side immediately.

We then give adelaide our pick 10 and our second round pick.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
