Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We are frustratingly undisciplined which is costing us dearly.

Although a hard fought win on Sunday, we seem to give away far too many unnecessary 50m penalties. I counted  five 50 meter penalties against us on Sunday (Tyson (2), Hannan, Hogan, Wagner) and none to the Lions. That is a hell of an advantage to give away. I know we have to play the game hard, but there was nothing hard about these penalties, simply sloppy and undisciplined. It is hard enough to win games at the best of times, without deliberately handicapping ourselves. We simply can't afford this in finals.

Hogan's wasn't a 50 99 times out of a 100. I'd call that an umpires mistake.

Other players made a mistake and the umps were all over us. I can't recall another games where we've given away many 50's, so it not an ongoing issue.

Yep those 50's were dumb by our players, wasn't the umps fault (except Hogans). Makes me wonder if our players are mouthy to umpires, hence the dopey free kicks sometimes that we see.

It felt like we were given no latitude- as other teams would.  Not being told get get back on the mark, giving 50 immediately etc.  we get nothing.

jeffy did get a 50 for the slam tackle off the ball in the first.  That's one against them.

I don't agree entirely... I think a couple of those 50's were the result of over enthusiastic umpiring as our players were given no opportunity at all to get back to the mark.  Hogan's should not have been a fifty and a 50 was not given to T Mac (I think it was) for an, unlike in Hogan's case, obvious knocking of the ball from his hands after it had been marked.  Really, only 2 of the 50's we gave away were what I would call warranted.

Nope, they umpired to the letter of the law, unfortunately they need to be consistent, our players overstepped the mark. Agree re Hogan and yes we should have got some in return though.

I said this in another thread but if you're going to start paying 50 for ones like Jesse's then you'll have to start paying about 10 50s per match. Consistency wasn't there as I can recall at least 2 of those that were carbon copies that didn't go our way.

But we never seem to get them even when they are there.

And, were the maggots consistent, Angus could have got one with the final mark of the match - contact after the mark (would have been soft but was there by the book).

We seem to have a lot of free kicks awarded against us at centre bounces for holding. Doesn't mean it always happens.

I saw an article last week where they said Oliver was a problem child with holding his opponent

You'd think it would be considered normal for the younger players like Oliver to be holding their opponent, as they lack the physical strength to body their opponent away from the fall of the ball.

As our midfield fully matures, I can see it being less of a problem.

Speaking of Oliver, how good was the mark he took on the members wing?

I've been on Oliver since his first game.

Honestly think he will win at LEAST 1 Brownlow. Already the best hands in congestion I have ever seen. Freakish.

Yeah, the mark was a beauty.

My only knock is he hardly ever kicks it and surprisingly his kicking is quite good. Agree, his hands are some of the fastest I've ever seen already. Has come along way in the last year and a great turnaround story.

Sometimes a club doesn't get the "slaughters" it deserves. We have had some good wins and some bad losses,if we play finals most of us will be happy. The club has endured plenty of injuries which doesn't help. I did predict that this year's final 8 re-dominance compared to last year. To date the current top 8 sides has lossed 60 matches compared to 50 last year.Next year will be tough.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
