Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Tough call on Tyson. I'd be ok with it but Tyson's game against the Saints was massive and in contested ball finals I'd want him in. It's a nice dilemma to finally have close to a full team to choose from.

It comes down to balance, the likes of ANB, Harmes, Vince or possibly Hannan could come out before him, but they all play a different role to Tyson.

Before Hannan Luci?

I think so.  Recently, Jason Taylor described Hannan as an 'impact' player.  He also has a nice side step and is one of the more composed players on our forward line.  On average he kicks 1 goal per game.

In terms of role, Harmes is playing upfield a bit when Watts is not in the team.  With Watts back its harder to find a role for him.

Lastly, Hannan played in a winning VFL team last year.  So he has finals experience, albeit not at AFL.

Harmes would be stiff to miss out...but  I would prefer Hannan...just my thoughts...

Viney has to play unless there is risk of worsening the injury.  if he is 80% then he plays, gets 2 weeks off and goes again

he is the baromter. Aish will take a look at Vineys face at the first bounce and crap his dacks

Hmmm, taking two weeks off after this upcoming match isn't exactly ideal though.

I'd like to see Viney rested for one more week. The risk of us not making the final eight seeeeems to be lower than the risk of Viney pulling up too sore for an elimination final post what is bound to be a very hard-fought match this weekend. And I can't see Adelaide just lying down against WC this weekend. After last weekend's result, individuals will be playing for finals selection and the team for restored dominance.

Hopefully, anyway.

I agree, but hopefully IF (pretty decent sized if) we win he isn't too rusty come finals given he will have had a couple of weeks off..

No Hurley again this week for Essendon too apparently, which fingers crossed is putting them at a massive disadvantage on the weekend.

Bombers are playing Dockers here. Dockers are on holidays.

Bomber % will jump.

I just don't get people calling for Tyson to be dropped. Makes me think I know nothing about footy..

I like tyson, and when he shows patience and uses the ball well, he is one of our best.

BUT, i am just telling you what i know from inside the club, and if he doesnt play up to his best standard, he could be one to miss, as unlucky or unlikely as that may be.

He is not quick, and to have him, vince, lewis and jones (all who are not quick) all in the same team does make us a little slow, so he needs to do what he is good at, but if he doesnt, he could be the unlucky one.

I agree with the consensus with Watts and Salem in for Wagner and Stretch.

It would great to see Maynard given another chance for additional grunt for what will be a high intensity match. I would rest who ever has a slight niggle out of Tyson, Harmes, Vince or Petracca

I saw the Goodwin interview. My read o it was different.

Goodwin knows he must play Watts but is carefully managing Watts to get the best return. Simply Goodwin us trying to put a firecracker up Watts.

Worked a treat preseason.

Goodwin wants that return again. its a clear play. Watts is clearly best 22 and this is the pointy end of the season. We all know we can't go far without Watts at full steam in the finals.  Goodwin is doing his thing.

Watts to play a blinder this weekend.

If Jack can't get fired up enough to play finals after 9 seasons and 150 games then its pretty obvious where the problem lies.

I hope Jack gets a shot as he has skills we need. But Goody has been firm and I have to say I like what he is doing - if you don't want to demonstrate intensity and desire there isn't a spot for you.

If I had to drop one of Vince, Lewis, Tyson or Jones... it'd have to be Vince for me.

Its not you, its them.

Tyson is solid as a rock and a huge part of our midfield engine.

At last. I also thought it was me.  I watched Tyson do an individual skills/ball handling warm up at the G last week and just reflected that he seems to get the ball a lot in traffic and links well getting the ball out. That's his strong suit.  Granted the team needs outsiders  and that's not his forte but gee, he's not Robinson Crusoe either in clangers.

Based on the little bit of training I saw today, there might be up to two more changes.

T-Mac may be rested - battling a niggling knee injury I think. That means Frost gets a game.

Hannan also is a bit proppy and received treatment - he may just be a straight swap this week for Watts.

That could mean: Salem in for Wagner and JKH or Kennedy on for Billy.

All will be revealed soon however!

Would love to know why Burgan/Misson did their injury report video this week.

Literally told us nothing we don't already know in regards to all players but especially Viney.

Why is there such a lack of transparency with reporting injuries at our club? Why so coy?

Nobody knows anything more than the fact his foot is 'sore'.

I don't get why they bother doing video injury report updates.

It's so you can be confused visually, instead of just audibly or in print.

I'm almost 99% sure Tyson is in our top 5 for least likely to get dropped.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
