Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

In rough terms there is about a 40 point difference between us and wet coke. If we lose by 20 points and they win by 20 points they may scrape us by about .1 of a percent. I think wet coke may beat Adelaide who already have a top 2 position locked. We have to beat the pies.

Agree we need to beat the Pies, and agree, it could easily swing against us - but the calculation is more complicated than that - though it needs someone more articulate about maths than me to elaborate further. But largely, it depends on how high/low scoring a match it is, and how high/low the total points scored for the season are.

Sorry to hear about that mate. Poor form

And it remains my firm view that the little turd who tried to push in front of me at the bar in the Long Room at 3/4 time last week should have his membership revoked.

It aint like it used to be.

Trac was down for a while in the last but seemed ok.

Dal Santo on the radio said the AFL have changed the rule where you kick it to someone in the fwd 50m and get another 30 secs to shoot for goal. Like Lewis to ANB against Carlton and again in hte last minute today.

I hadn't heard that. Does anyone know if this is correct? He was saying the umpires can call play on.

Simple answer to all these shenanigans.

Abolish the countdown clock for all except the time keeper. Not the "30 seconds to kick a goal" countdown. The "how much time left in the quarter" countdown.

Everyone, including coaches, media, the lot, can only see the time elapsed. Like it was before channel 7 invented this exciting innovation which has brought no benefit but plenty of downside.

Then they won't know if they can diddle with the 30 seconds stuff.

It makes for more exciting footy anyway.

But the AFL don't like simplicity. They would rather tack on more and more subrules and interpretations.

Well, that went pretty much as expected except for the part where we gave them a fighting chance in the last.

They came into the game on a high from last week and in full knowledge that this is exactly the kind of game that we fluff. So they squeezed us, crowded us, hoping we'd panic.

First quarter, their body language said that they thought they had our number.

We didn't panic but the edge sure was off our ball handling. So near and yet so far. It only needed 15 minutes where everything went right and game over. Fourth quarter, Bang! Right on schedule. Then ... quick rewrite of the script. "Melbourne, knowing what is like to be at the tail end of the ladder, decide to give Brisbane some hope and stand and watch while they move the ball effortlessly and cleanly."

Thankfully Pedo didn't read the new script. Thanks Pedo.

Next week Collingwood are going to give us the same treatment. If we lose it could be curtains and they are just the kind of club who would love to bring it down on us. Watch them throw the kitchen sink at us. We should be good enough -- we are good enough -- to rub their noses in it. But it's all between the ears next week. Are we up for the challenge?

They would LOVE to ruin it for us. Will need no extra motivation for this one.

Anyone else noticed Jess had his right shoulder bandaged but not his left? He did his left collarbone.

Was he doing the Lin Jong trick?

Yes, I noticed.

He has had his right shoulder strapped since he came back from cancer surgery.

Think we were lucky to win this.  We were beaten at our own game, panicked when there was no true pressure, made stupid turnovers and relied on individual acts to stay in the game.  We fair dinkum stopped in the last.

Carlscum did their late season trick and took a scalp - this year it is the Dorks.  The bears were looking for one too, and I suppose in getting the points we at least were one up on last year.

next week will be a bastard.  We need to get back to OUR game.  Something like what Casey did - win the stoppages, make contests, stop them marking.  If we play like we did today, we will make Bucks and his band of pathetic toothless sister-rooters look way better than they deserve.

People have got to stop running this film of "what might have happened" in their heads as if it's reality - and then arguing from that as if it did.

Just to be clear you've perfectly summarised literally everything that is wrong with the entire world.

Politics, relationships, football. Well played.

So let's recap this week's posts in the Hogan thread:

1. We are better without Hogan in the side

2. He should earn it in the VFL like everyone else

3. Our fitness and medical staff are incompetent and negligent for letting him play

I knew there was some form of deity........

There were a few players who did very little but the Lions played above themselves and full credit to a couple of players who were great at the stoppages. On the whole we were pretty good .... we didnt make the most of all our entries. Missed a couple of set shots and went to sleep when five goals up in the last.

That said the pies when on are bloody good and will be a challenge if we don't bring our best.

At least its in our hands to reach finals and lets hope that's enough to make us excel.

Hopefully, Jesse and Pedo can continue their stellar efforts and Garlett can improve.

At least our fwd line is working again.

Must acknowledge the form of Lewis over the past few weeks. Has been a constant, effective presence down back and along with Hibberd has been crucial to the organisation of our backline. He will be a great asset come finals.

I reckon we underestimate Jones too.

Slowed it down at the end when we were streaming forward and some of his disposal into the forward line was sublime

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
