Someone here on DL suggested a few months ago to put a punt on Gawn. I think it was like 19:1 or 12:1 at the time. I’m not much of a gambler, aside for 2-up and a mock Melbourne Cup, but I threw a few on in this case when it was suggested.

Let’s see how the man goes ?

Gawn won't get close.

He is a ruckman for one, umps don't give them any votes and how many games has bl00dy Nicholls umpired against us? He'd give Gawny negative votes such is his disdain for him. Plick

Gawn is now 2nd favourite for the Brownlow.

My posts were July 2017. Your archive is admirable.

My view now is that Max is rightly outright favourite for the medal. He is a genuine star and in the top three or four players in the AFL, and one of the few who makes such a huge difference when he is on the field that he makes the difference between winning and losing. He WILL win us a flag in the next year or two.

I really don’t understand certain commentators who rank Max only in the top 2 or 3 ruckman in the AFL. To me he is clearly number one. The complete package.

I will be interested to see the games that Nicholls umpired and how Gawn went in them. I believe Max should be favourite for the Brownlow now so it will be interesting to see how he polls.

How good is Gawn's influence in the centre bounces and around the stoppages ? What about his big telling marks in defence ? His ground work is exquisite. 40+ hit outs 13 times out of 16 games. Leads the MVP by 5 votes before this count smashing his nearest rivals.  If he keeps this form going and free of injury he can legitimately win this years Brownlow without a doubt.  He is the main reason that we are in the hunt to make finals for the first time since 2006. He has a big influence in the saying of how we finish the year. I and many others would prefer a Premiership than a Brownlow,  however he deserves both medals.

Max needs to make Nicholls a latte and become Instagram friends.

If you’d like some Clarrie you can get $67 for the Brownlow. Interestingly, Jesse also at $67 for the Brownlow, seems a bit odd though.

I think I owe you a few beers then!

We’re developing a champion team rather than a team of champions. Our boys will share too many votes to win one.

But we’ll get some Norm Smith medals soon enough

Will be disapointing but not surprising if Mitchell wins it. he is a very good player but not an out and out star like previous winners (Fyfe/Danger,/Dusty) or like Gawn/oliver.  he gets it a lot due to a lack of quality inside mids at hawthorn and imo does not influence games to the extent the others I mention do.

itll just show that the umpires notice the amount of touches rather than the impact over a game

2018 Brownlow winner is ........ joint winners Max Gawn and Clayton Oliver

History making - first time a shared Brownlow between two players from the one club !!!!

Gaff?

Nope. Actually, if he misses games next year from this suspension is he eligible for next year’s Brownlow?

Hard to pick because the very best players don’t often win it as history shows. Generally a midfielder due to sheer possessions so probably Oliver closest right now though he may not be flashy enough. A Petracca up and running would be noticed.

Would love to see either Max or Clarry win it but I think Patrick Cripps will be very hard to beat.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
