Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sorry, but I can't rationalise, compromise, legitimise, sanitise or minimise Bugg's action. Six weeks is entirely appropriate.

No one is asking you to. But IMO its no worse than Houli. Houli just didn't have media hyenas clawing at his carcas.

They were in meltdown over the penalty, not Houli, and that is a big difference.

FFS Houli will get knighted for services to football such has been the fawning over his 'character' and 'references' while Bugg has been made out to be Jack the Ripper.

Bugg has been friendless, even from the majority on here it would seem.

From Danny green a boxing expert of course

Green admitted Bugg was likely to be suspended but said there 'was nothing in' the incident and there wasn't intent to strike Mills in the head or knock him out.

Nothing like the Barry Hall one but  I bet he gets the same as HALL.      Not excusing it it should not have happened but the hysteria is over the top.  Should be 4 weeks

If a serial pest like Hayden Ballantyne had done to Christian Petracca what Bugg did to Mills ask yourself, and be honest, what penalty you'd think was appropriate.  I'd want him out of the game for life.

Bugg is a serial pest (similar to Ballantyne) and Mills is a young gun (similar to Petracca).

That's the way the footy world is looking at this.  If Buddy had clocked Tom McDonald in the same way the media would be saying 4 weeks, same as Houli, and probably trying to justify less.

My hope is the Tribunal can divorce the incident from the emotion and if they give Bugg more than Houli they will have to go through some pretty nifty logic to get there.

Bugg has cultivated his 'bad boy' image, and this is the flip side of that.  While I don't believe that the personal attacks on his character are warranted, he is copping his whack due to the action he committed.

And we would be doing exactly the same if it were one of ours.

Now some guy named Nathan Jones is unfairly maligning Bugg for his innocuous act of self-defense!

Nathan Jones says Tom Bugg has burnt trust with the Demons following Callum Mills hit

Melbourne midfielder Tom Bugg has "burnt a fair bit of trust" within the club following his crude off-the-ball hit on Sydney defender Callum Mills, according to Demons co-captain Nathan Jones.

TPF39. In my estimation Bugg is copping his whack not as much for what he did as much as how many are embellishing it.

Someone like Green sees it for what it was. Many in the media ( with varying agendas ) together with his many non-fans are happy to wrap the event in layers of 'evil' to perpetuate their disfavour for him.

Hes a poster boy for the 'bad stuff' and no doubt the AFL and all its pc and hypocritical social voice will line up as many darts as can.

Get rid of him he is now detrimental to our team effort.

From here on in he will just reduce our ability to win games.

Jones is trotting out the ol' pc party lines. He also managed to give nods to both " unsociable" and " humble & respectful"

Sorry im having a hard time not laughing my head off at that.

No should be season ending 10 weeks. It is about time this society made king hitting people in the head an absolute no no. You should talk to the medical profession about how many young men they come up against who are seriously injured by idiots king hitting them in bars because they feel like it, leading to life long injuries.

There is no excuse for this, and if our most high profile sport is seen to condone this on the football field we have no hope of reform. Bugg should go, and never return to the MFC nor the AFL.

About this topic. Melbourne should not rejoice in the admiration the AFL community has heaped on it in the last 4 weeks, and then complain about it when we have a shocker. We have craved for attention and being taken seriously by the football community. Well guess what guys: they do, the good and the bad.

It is up to us to re-establish ourselves in the eyes of the industry, and if we beat Carlton this weekend (in my view unlikely given our injury list), we will become the darlings of the week again.

Our fate, ie our media fate, is entirely in our own hands. Isn't that what we have always craved: to be taken seriously as a power AFL club? Well guess what guys - this is what it looks like. Get used to it, because we will be in the headlines for many many years to come.

So there.

People still saying Buggs is not worse than Houlis? Houli was being held while trying to run to receive the ball and trying to break the hold. he got angry and too aggressively swiped and clocked the bloke. forearm to the head not a punch in my opinion. got his 4 weeks he deserved

Bugg stared at Mills and punched him clean in the jaw. would have to be more than 4 weeks or something is not right

And hopefully we can put this argument to bed now.

The captain of our club and the club as a whole are very unhappy with his actions. As should we all. It was a terrible thing to do, and a poor way to represent our club.

I'm looking forward to all this being over tonight. Cop the ban and move on with our lives.

On Bugg I could not agree more. As you rightly say punching people has become a national epidemic. The AFL need to walk the walk and not just talk the talk.

Suspend for balance of 2017 and  the MFC should drop him from the list at seasons end

What so Bug has snotted someone and suddenly we want to give him 10 weeks and delist him at seasons end.

Geez settle down imo he will get 4-6 and then earn his spot back in the team.

People make mistakes and there is nothing wrong with giving him the chance to prove himself again.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
