Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Pay no attention to media stories or opinions. We Demon supporters know from bitter experience how difficult it is to gain the ultimate prize. Okay, we are Melbourne supporters and no longer long suffering Melbourne supporters, but, I for one, will be taking it one game at a time. Not a time to get cocky. When we have a period of sustained success and can beat all teams in the competition, and no longer have any hoodoo teams or grounds, I will relax and enjoy the journey and dream of a flag. Never felt better about our great club, but we are only just out of the blocks.

Agreed. And the tone of the articles seems to be "can you believe it?" or "2017 is so unpredictable that even Melbourne [the most defective team of the past 300 years] might even play finals......"

I remember only too well those that pilloried us for years. Yes we were poor and our admin was a rabble but we are on our way now. And our team on the weekend was full of players that were taken at low draft picks that have been developed.

I would rather be feared or depised than have sympathy from those media cretins.

It's been a long time, my very first GF i attend in person was 2000 and we all know how that turned out.

Yep, I remember it well. That Dons team was one of the ages IMO. Boy did I drink after that game.

Ha. Rohan Connolly may or may not think the Demons can win a premiership, but what is for sure is that he thinks a bit of hype aboutt he Demons right now will get some click-throughs.

He makes a good point about the spread of talent.

A bit older but my worst nightmare was the GF against the Hawks in 88.

Never felt so empty after a game (indeed from quarter time on).

Still have not recovered from the humiliation of that day.

Another reason to keep hating the Hawks.

I like Connelly ,but tell him he's dreamin! And former Crows coach Mark Williams goes to the same hairdresser as me: he said , at the start of the season , that we would make the final four.I said balderdash.I am afraid that we are not good enough to play finals footy. This year.Next year..........?

Boy, did I drink before that game. Can only remember the first 15 or so minutes and have never watched a single second of replay.

We have had more false dawns, messiahs, red-and-blueprints, 3 year plans, 5 year plans, "new president - new era for the club", etc ... than any other sporting club ever -  national or global. My relationship with the MFC is best understood as being like listening to a weather report where the meteorologist says "chance of rain". I just take what comes.

We should have won a flag under Northey, Balme, and Daniher but the club behind the team was so poor that it was never going to happen.

It is wonderful at the moment to hear so much good press about the Dees. Our club is respected. Our players are known and many are becoming feared. And our crowds are as strong and consistent as the traditional big Melbourne clubs.

But  I will not invest too much in any preview or opinion about our relative success until I see the Dees skipper holding aloft the cup on Grand Final Day, with me hoarse, crying, screaming, elated, shocked and overwhelmed somewhere at the ground.

Having said all that, it feels bl***y good at the moment. I can watch the footy knowing we are in each game and we have the talent to win. That is something I guess.

Thats funny because after 15 mins of fierce pace and tackling, we dropped off and the rest is history. Never watched a replay myself and was glad I couldnt get tix for that one. After winning the Brownlow,Sw had a shocker.(He wasnt alone).

Can't really imagine what it would feel like to win a flag. Maybe 50 times more than the win of last weekend?

We havent really fielded our strongest side this year yet have we?

We beat Crows and Eagles and we would have beaten Geelong and Tigs bar injuries ( in the Geelong game the worst case of Yips I have ever seen.).

GWS game should be interesting and I hope above hope by the time we play Norf again  the strongest team we have is up.

The great thing about our team is when one player has a bad day someone else pops up to play a blinder. Last weekend for example Pedo and Garlett scored one goal and TMac kicks 5. Oliver was shut down and Tyson steps up. Jones is injured and Viney plays the game of his life.

Our backline which used to be a joke is now supreme with Hibberd, Jetta and now Omac.

Imagine a full team with Hogan and Watts.Makes me wonder who gets dropped.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
