unbelievable. or is it all too believable. a bloke can kick someone in the face and still be eligible for the fairest (and best) player award. a bloke with a record at that.

i would say the MRP has gone mad except we already knew they're beyond that.

wines. airborne. elbow. to the head. there are some previously suspended players out there wondering what the f*** is going on. along with all the rest of us.

the AFL don't mind. it's not hurting ratings or gates so where's the issue???

Does anyone really think given the Trillion permutations during a match that someone, anyone ( let alone Greene) jumped into the air with the premeditated intent to kick someone in the face ? ... REALLY. ??  Ffs

Have to disagree on that. The potential for major damage to the face from a straightening (let's call it just short of a kick) leg, studs out, should have meant Greene with his record, sitting out a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks. I may be wrong, but in soccer if a player tackles studs out, isn't it an instant red card, which I assume means a holiday for at least the following week?... why should it be any different in the AFL?

Greene also extended his foot into Dalhouse's face after he made contact. It's assault by any definition.

And, how the fluck did Wines get away with hitting an E Coli Wobbler's head????

Whether it's premeditated or not is not the issue. He kicked Dalhouse in the face, boots studs out.

It's as crappy as the West Coast Eagle defence of the elbow to Oliver's chin. By any definition, an elbow to the chin is common assault.

Wines is as lucky as Melksham was.

mrp lottery

Agreed, both were crude but lucky that the players weren't affected. Had both players come from the ground assisted (even if they came back) they would've each got at least a week.

MRP works on injury result, not the action.

Greene's a rat, but I think it would be a slippery slope to suspend him for that. A misconduct charge is fair, maybe the fine is a little lean but it was a reflex action in my opinion.

yes I really do, Dalhaus had look on his face, oh merde, he knew exactly where it was going. Greene is a sniper of the 1st order.

How TF does Ollie Wines get off for an elbow to the head??

And Toby Greene. Fined for shoving a boot into the face of Dalhaus.

They really are brazen and deplorable at the MRP

Surely Greene was either incidental, no penalty, or at best reckless, high contact, high impact - 4-3!   A fine to someone on 10K a week is nothing.

And of course it is the AFL's own pet team and finals are approaching - can't have such a key player in their premiership campaign out at the pointy end of the season

And Wines is (i) in the Downlow race, maybe, and (ii) a key part of another interstate team' campaign.

Nothing corrupt at AFL HQ ????

Got a feeling i saw for a fleeting moment Greene's head move slightly to see where best to place his right boot, which is not an easy thing to do whilst airborne:cool:

Absolutely none of this rounds MRP action made sense. Redpath gets 2 for a trademark Phil Davis dive, fines for Wines and Greene.

Of course it makes sense - Greene is needed for the AFL / GW$ Premiership bid, and Wines may have a few votes.

What I don't get is how Gawn can block with an extended arm in the ruck and give away a free kick, but Greene blocks with studded boots and nothing. Please explain?

It was a free kick and a report. MRP just have no idea

Wines makes contact to the head with an elbow, Green makes contact to the face with studded boots.

The head is not as sacrosanct as they want us to believe.

Mixed messages and zero consistency

It's back to business as usual for the MRP this week.

The strangest thing is how they managed to get the Dangerfield one right a few weeks back. Out of form perhaps. Maybe they were tapering for the finals.

I just saw the Redpath one. Aaahahaha 2 weeks! Surely he's being Punk'd, where's Ashton hiding? Come on, reveal the joke. You must be [censored] kidding me. That is just... I don't even know. Please.

Wines getting off is also a joke. He jumped and hit the head. Absolute blueprint of what not to do. If Vince did it he'd be sent to Florida for lethal injection.

I have no problem with Greene getting off. Instinct and accident.

I find it interesting (and I know I can sound like a patronising git - this isn't meant to be) that people have such a different perspective on the same incident. Several respected posters saying the same thing has had me look at it another dozen times and I still see a very intentional dog act. To me this is so much clearer than the Schofield cheap shot to Olivers' jaw. I want a few of you my jury when I get done for murder, that is for sure.

Not patronising at all. I knew it'd divide opinion as soon as it happened. It looks horrible and I I can see why people think it's intentional.

I just really doubt, with all Greene's recent actions, he thought I'm gunna jump up, grab the ball and kick this [censored] in the face real quick.

Doubt that he premeditated it. Just the kind of thing he does by instinct. That's his mentality. He clearly looked at Dalhaus coming in and fended of with his boot. Weak cop out by the MRP.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
