Fist or open hand - you be the judge

Carlton clearly bitter and weak as usual, it is/was clearly open handed and got his cheek so the headache calls are ridiculous, all on the match review panel should be sacked for this one, this is just stupid

Not to get all conspiracy theory on this but where can we see an 'objective' medical report that states clearly the damage done to both Rowe and Cripps?

Theres nothing in Carlton's interests to protect our players. If they believe they'll be in the mix for finals against us one competitive advantage is to try and harm us in other games.

With the AFL placing so much value on medical reports whose ensuring they are objective and reasonable? I'm legitimately interested if anyone is aware of the process.

Also, I hope the club is doing due diligence and asking the AFL for the full medical reports before deciding next steps.

The whole process needs to be more transparent if it's being used as a deciding factor.

As angry and annoyed I am about this one, the "open palm" defence won't do anything...

Does this mean I can go out and, with an open hand, smash my palm into the nose of my opponent, shattering it all in the thought that I will get off due to not having a closed fist?

I think not...

i'd say that in an appeal, a top barrister could make a good fist of it. ;) don't forget a different panel to the mrp handles appeals.

As opposed to " palming" off the MRP inconsistency.

If Hogan appealed he "may" get downgraded to 1 week... but at the end of the day he still misses the ONE week we need him most early this season!

I'm more angry at our players than the bureaucracy

All that is necessary for MRP's krapp to prevail is for good teams to stand idly.

push, not slap

OK a push. I don't recall anyone ever been suspended for an open handed whack of any description. Usually a reason for a player getting let off when a punch is suspected.

Disappointing that 2 key players for the game against Geelong will not be there. Would love to know what Goodwin has to say to Lewis and Hogan about these stupid acts of frustration. One should know better and the the another hopefully learns  from letting their team down.  Be interesting to see who the replacements with be.

Has anyone ever gotten suspended for an open palm slap before?

First you need to grab their jumper, pull back, then punch 'em in the mouth with it.

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. Originally an NBL basketballer with the Brisbane Bullets, he moved across town in 2019 to the AFL Lions where he played 19 games before crossing to Melbourne where he was expected to fill a role as a back up ruckman/key forward. Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute.
