Gawn vs Kreuzer

Recommended Posts

I'm more worried about Max actually getting up for this game. I know he played the game out but i wonder the 48 hours afterwards he might have pulled sore and stiff?

Read that he was restricted to walking laps yesterday.

we forgot to turn up to play on that occasion. Wont ever happen again I suspect.

i like your optimism BB, but there will be days when this happens over a long season. Happens to the best of them.

Days of unbridled optimism and days of whatever happened.

Spencer will play, i can feel it in my bones.....and he will play a bit on Kreuzer too.

The only way Spencer will play is if Gawn doesn't...

Watts was more than adequate giving Max a chop out against the Saints.

Kreuzer at his best (even after injury) should never be taken lightly, he can be very damaging.

We will win and win easily, but it won't just be Big Max and the midfield that will do the job for us it will be like last week, a full team effort.

This is a different Melbourne and one I haven't seen for many years, they have self belief and ability, together with a game plan equipped to handle the current day's style of play. We handled them in the JLT and they had most of their top players in at the time, so I can'r see any reason why we shouldn't do the job again.

What happened last year and previous years has nothing to do with what will happen from here on in, we are a different club and it will take a god side to beat us, Carlton aren't a good side.

Didn't we beat God's side last week!

Fair point but/and Max is the difference between us playing Finals or not. NOOOO chances will be taken. Also that is why i think they both will play.

In regard to Watts his hands will possibly be full trying to being another forward target/foil maybe for Hogan.

The other factor here is that clubs like the Blooze believe, rightly or wrongly, that we're their one big chance for a win this season, and that if they come prepared to hit us hard and to take the game up to us, we'll fold. IIRC Woosha said something like this last year.

We might be tired and a little lackluster some days..yes. but im sure they'll be a drivengroup who'll be there to play.

At the risk of going too early: this may have been the case last year but we've moved to the next bracket up. The clinical evisceration of St Kilda (after 1/4 time) has only confirmed that. I suspect that mantle has shifted to Tigers, North, GC / Brisbane / maybe freo (if played at home): they will be getting themselves up for games against each other. Then there is Bombers and Pies that are the 'traditional' rivals.

Just about the type the exact same thing. Kruezer has been cruelled with injury, and also had long streams of poor games, but at this best he is a very good footballer whose around the ground play can swing a game. Max will beat him at ruck contests but around the ground could be a genuine battle.

I think if we bring our A game we will smash them. But, like you, I worry we'll bring our C game.

What is it? MFCSS or something like that?

Help me out here - what does the acronym stand for? Best I've come up with is Melbourne Football Club Suffering Supporters?

Kreuzer's been one of the main reasons Carlton have beaten us the last 2 times.

He's a quality player that shouldn't be taken lightly.

Even in last years game he at least broke even with Gawn.. Wouldn't be surprised, given his attitude, if Gawn labeled that as a loss and has again set himself to take down Kreuzer as he just did Hickey.

The whole team pretty well had an off day.

Max (on) v Kreuzer (even if in form )  should be Gawns points

MFC supporter syndrome I think

Yeah, the expression dates from around the Neeld era after years of punishment & false dawns. The totally understandable (at the time - not so much now) belief that everything that happens at MFC will turn out badly.

So now you know what is MFCSS ... but how does it work?

Example. We could be leading at half time by 15 goals to 1.

After half time ... if Carlton get the first inside 50 ... cue the comments:

Here we go! Carlton by 187!

Jesse Hogan is not up to AFL standard!

I knew this would happen! Why does this always happen to us?

I have always known Mitch Hannan was hopeless. I have been saying this since 1975.

We should never again pick Nathan Jones. Never!!!!!

Goodwin has no plan B. Sack him before the 3/4 time break!

I blame Cameron Schwab, Gabriel Szondy, Joe Gutnick, Paul McNamee, Adrian Anderson and Dennis Jones!

That's MFCSS.

(Trace elements were detectable in the first quarter against St K)

Kreuzer looked solid in preseason and very good in round 1. He does enough against most rucks in the hit outs and follows up his taps really well so Max better be on his game, and he runs around the ground as well as any ruck. He's one of the least likely guys you'd want to face if you have a sore back.

The thing about Carlton is they are full of kids and role players but on their day those role players can play well and same with the kids. They aren't completely terrible they just have a really low floor when things go badly.

We need Gawny firing because Gibbs, Cripps and Murphy have got us before. If you don't nullify those guys and break even in the middle then their forwards and backs can be ok. It's like the Saints game, winning in the midfield is the difference between us looking very good and very ordinary.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
