Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What was important for mine was that during the first quarter where we were struggling a bit, Vince, Lewis and especially Jones were still able to lead the way.  It was the pups that lifted their game later during the 2nd and 3rd quarter blitz, but for mine that may not have happened if our top 3 senior players weren't leading the way.  All three were outstanding for mine.

Oliver though.  Wow.  That performance came as a surprise to exactly zero MFC supporters, of course, but gee it's good to see it starting to happen.  The only players who spent less time on the ground than Oliver were Smith and Melksham, for the record.

At 3/4 time clayton was top possessions for least time as well.

I've been getting texts from non mfc supporters watching at home commenting on how good Oliver was.

Fwiw i didn't think we were horrible in the first.  We lost the inside mid battle but the rest of the side was competing and working hard.

Who were the dees goal kickers? How did the weed and Hanna play? anyone.

Garlett Hogan 3 Hannan Petracca 2 Watts Weideman Stretch Vince Brayshaw Jones Neal-Bullen 1

Weideman struggled to get in the game early, worked in later.  Showed some good use of the ball when he had it - gets in to position to mark, needs to start plucking them.

Hannan was electric.  Fantastic debut.

Ideally he would be plucking them - it'll come - someone else mentioned he's similar to an early 'Prince of Perth'... id say thats a fair likeness.. he'll be bloody graceful and smooth though...

Out of curiosity for the doubters of ANB - (which i have always had a soft spot) Does anyone think he'd lose his spot for anyone next week based on output today?

After quarter time you could argue that we didn't have one bad player on the park.  Everyone made a contribution to the victory.  To roll the Saints on their home turf like that shows how far we've come as a club.  I couldn't be more excited right now and I hope everyone else is, too!

Goodwin had a plan B... Roos would have stuck with plan A until it was too late

That's harsh on Roos, we bounced back against the Kangas last year after a wipe out first term.

Plan B: "start playing good"?

Hard to tell on TV of course, but I didn't see any amazing tactical or structural changes.  We just turned up the dial.

Smith may be the only forced change, and you would think Dom Tyson (if he got through today without any hassles) would be in line to come back in.  That may mean Salem is pushed to half back a little to cover Smith and to allow for Tyson to come in.

What I'm getting at is that ANB won't be dropped off the back of that performance.

Goodwin even mentioned himself that the turn around after quarter time was the players getting back to playing 'our' way - there would have been some minor tweaks and a few reminders in there, but as you say, there wasn't anything more than that.

I do wish Bernie would effing stop sniping people in play (can think of 3 occasions in the 2 qrt that I watched) He does it game in game out - is the worst 'overt' sniper since David King finished up...

Outstanding result today, well done to the boys. Our play in the second and third quarters, in an important game, was as good as we have seen for a decade. To bounce back after a horrible first quarter was really pleasing. Our senior players really led the way in keeping a steady ship, and the others followed. It would be nice to see that kind of resilience on a regular basis.

Oliver and Petracca were fantastic. Jones superb. Max had a great last three quarters. Oscar and Vince were very good after poor starts. Hogan and Garlett did a great job of taking their chances when they came. Hannan looked right at home at that level. Really everyone made a contribution, with the likely exception of Melksham who was very poor. A tough way for Smith to start his career, but he will be back, no doubt at all.

Next week will be a good test, to not only beat Carlton, but to beat them well. I have no doubt we are ten goal better side than the Blues if we play properly throughout.

And finally, to see Nick Riewoldt go down like that, particularly with the game decided, was very sad. He is a true champion, and I hope his career isn't over.

I do wish people would think before they posted.

No.

If there's any difference between Goodwin and Roos it's that they have different players at their disposal. In particular ... Lewis. Arguably our best player in the first quarter, and just having him out there each week is going to make a huge difference.

That is incredibly disrespectful to a guy that has laid the foundation for us having success. By Goodwin's own words he reinforced the message that has been drilled into them all summer, it's not like he pulled out a clipboard labeled "plan B".

What we did after quarter time was lower the eyes and spot up shorter kicks because it was St Kilda's game plan to have a loose man behind the ball, too often in the first quarter we blazed away and kicked it long which played into St Kilda's hands.

I get the feeling that match day for a coach isn't so much about pulling good ideas out of your butt, it's about drilling into the players the structures and plans they've worked on and tweeking them through the game with certain players.

The McDonalds really really really need to work on their kicking. Deplorable is putting it nice.

Oliver was immense, Jetta all class, Hannan fit right in, big Maxy just rolling on  from last year. Jeffy looked like he had all the zip.

enjoy having Lewis in our colours.

I understand the Saints trying to emulate the Bulldogs game plan of last year, but getting their most loved and loyal veteran to do his knee early in the season is probably taking things to far.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
