Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Well, I'm here and I've never seen this happen before. Would this happen at a men's game? Or did Gil write some sexist legislation that said the women's competition would mean they go off with lightening? Urgh. Pathetic.

They just announced that the remaining 3 mins of that quarter will be played after half time followed by a mini break while they change ends for the 3rd quarter.

Oddly enough, I was actually at the last game that was stopped for lightning, was out at Spotless Stadium in Sydney. There was a bit of a groan at first but then the crowd quickly agreed as they all 'bolted' for cover, under a massive downpour and some very impressive aerial 'match-day experience' features.

Good luck to everyone at Casey trying to get cover!

Depends on how exposed they are at that ground and how serious an electrical storm is there I would imagine. I seem to recall that golfers and soccer players (recently?) had been injured due to playing in electrical storms. Perhaps it's best to be cautious regardless of gender?

The naysayers don't get it.

Its not about quality football.

Um, what?

I have heard the words "elite skills" thrown around throughout the entire broadcast. This is absolutely supposed to be the elite level for Women.

The game will undoubtedly improve in time, but  by god the "skills" on show have been horrendous. About the level of a country under 10's game.

I went to the Dogs, Demons game late last year and it was a totally different crowd. At one stage I just took time to look around and only about 30% of people were actually watching the game. But the rest were having a great time anyway.

If that's true, it says to me that many of the attendees were there for novelty value, and nothing more.

But women's footy is about free entry, a fun night out and back to suburban grounds and grass roots.

No it's not. The women involved will tell you it is about Women showing great skills on the big stage.

They also need to generate big income, to warrant the already complained about calls for more money.

Games that only have 5 or 6 goals total, are unlikely to do that. Soccer has that already.

Well, that's a pretty disappointing result and effort.

We looked alright for one quarter but just got steadily worse all game.

Can't help noticing the much better credentials of the Lions' coaching group. We'd want to catch up on that front in a hurry.

Six games left to sort it out and earn our way into the final.

Two things, we have no forward line at all and we are undisciplined. Not good enough on either count.

Disappointing result. More scoring shots for Melbourne (first quarter) but Brisbane prevailed. I thought that Brisbane kept improving throughout the match and deserved the points although we were hardly disgraced (5/12 on the ladder?). Impressed with the crowd.

Typical Melbourne style. The tried her best and was best on grounds. Very undisciplined, gave away two free kicks ended up in goals. Kicked to nobody or kick to someone who is about to be tackled. No structure. No passion. Going to be an embarrassment. Got my AFLW membership lastnight. I should have waited till today.

I'm annoyed. I don't think we've got the coaching appointment right. Hiring a TAC coach who's never coached women's footy and then trying to play a zone system when the game just needs players spread out in position and to win one on ones. None of our best players are forwards and it's clear you need a gun forward to kick 2 or 3 goals to score in this game.

More than that though, I'm annoyed it's at Casey.

The Dogs and Blues are getting bumper crowds at their traditional suburban homes and it has to be a boost for the entire club. Plus the players can train where they play. I don't know if our girls had even been to Casey before today?

The place is an absolute dump. It never has decent conditions for footy. Never. A solid enough crowd turned out but how many where Melbourne supporters and what was achieved by playing it in the middle of nowhere?

Poor decisions and lack of infrastructure has seen us being unable to capitalise on all the hard work done in previous years.

I hear Paul Roos might be taking over the coaching soon. :P

I missed all the game so I'll just say some general things. We got very unlucky with our draft position and I think it's made a big difference, clearly some very good players went low and from then the talent pool thinned quite quickly.

This will be a work in progress for some time in a lot of ways so we will need patience (I think we're the kings at that).

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
