I signed my 15month old up last week -the question I pose to you is , am I a [censored] of a father, or will I be teaching him some inherent valuable life lesson in resilience?

He'll thankyou for it ;)

Is that what Good Friday's for? I've often wondered.

Not any longer the AFL's greed killed it.

Not sure I agree, Old dee. I don't think it's greed. In this instance I think the AFL could argue that they were responding to the wishes of the community. I'm confident that more in the community support a game on Good Friday than those that don't.

Of course, if that argument holds up, there shouldn't be a twilight Grand Final. And, to be fair, so far there isn't.

You can justify every decision with " we are catering to the community wishes" I don't know a single person who has the desire for a football game on Good Friday.

The community wanted the AFL to sanction the Essendon players but did they?

Not until they were dragged there by ASADA and WADA.

The AFL is a veracious money beast pure and simple IMO.

That's why you sign them up straight after birth while the wife is still in the hospital. Come back with a baby size Demons jumper and scarf. Deal done.

I did that and ended up with a Richmond supporter!

I have a simple deal with my kids: food and shelter is only given to Melbourne supporters. They'll thank me for it someday. Or put me in a really dodgy home.

Seriously BD?

You need a little realignment.

I'm not a fan of Good Friday footy. The Easter Bunny died for our sins that day, and we should really do nothing that day but eat buns decorated with his murder weapon.

Hmmm. Just thinking: should they be called Hot Cross Bunnies?

Sounds accurate to me UF.

I had never considered that they should be Hot Cross Bunnies

Let's get this thread back on track and focus on record membership numbers! I know that there are many Demonlanders content with breaking last year's record, others who are targeting 40,000, but personally I feel that we should go all-out to go for 45,000!

There is no reason why we can't get to 40K in the next week (after a decisive win on Saturday) and a further boost the following week after we dispense with the Top-of-the-ladder Tigers. 45,000 is not a pipe-dream so let's chase up the numbers!

Can't quite understand why some wouldn't want footy on a Friday night or any night for that matter.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
