I think Fifty-5 was having a laugh MD.

Why would Longer leave a team where he's 2nd in line behind one of the best half dozen rucks in the comp to a team where he'll be 2nd in line behind the best in the comp.

And for the record, Longer can't play forward.

Who says he can't play forward, he's just young & putting on weight.  A good mark, great leap, & is mobile.  He can learn.   He is behind some senior rucks there, he would be number 2 with us.

Because he's shown zero ability to do so at either AFL or VFL level so far.

He spent periods of time forward in the Casey v Sandringham game at Casey Fields this year with zero impact. Ask any Saints fan what they think of his forward craft.

Longer as a forward is what Dawes is as a ruck.

I think he'd be more valuable to us than the pick we'd get for him

I agree. He was far from our worst yesterday, particularly considering how often the ball went down there. Not currently the flavour of the month which is more of the problem than his actual form.

"Im sick of running in the preseason"..... well, that will guarantee his exit.  If he wants to prolong his career he will have to run, run and run some more in the preseason.

Apart from Demonland, I wonder who are the 'haters'??

Strong words from Dunn: 'Lynden Dunn has vowed to "prove the haters wrong" and play on at AFL level for another three or four years...'

Tbh I haven't ween much in the media that would make him think there are a lot of 'haters' out there.  I doubt he reads demonland so does he mean people at the club?

Not good form really.

Well, I say good on him for wanting to prove whoever hes got a gripe with wrong. Think he is in a similar position to Brian Lake at the Bulldogs. He is a keep for mine unless he is part of a good deal.

Its one thing wanting to prove people wrong its another advertising it to the world - doubt that would impress other suitors.

As for getting a good deal for him - that interview just sent his value down, down, down: bit of a backhander to mfc; he doesn't like preseason running (explains why he has been overweight all year); shanked 8 'barrells' yesterday (even if he hit them sweetly, were they in the game plan or was he just being selfish and lazy)...

With that attitude he hardly provides on or off field leadership to our young players.  We will do well to get a 3rd round pick - worth it to get a list spot and salary cap space from his departure.

Good comparison. There'll be plenty of interest for him.

Given he's contracted we could maybe wait till the trade is finalized.

He'll be good for the Pies, but we have to continue to find someone better going with Frost and Oscar. Saving some coin not a bad idea either.

Random fact: he was the first player who decided to sign a new contract with the Dee's when he could have left as a FA

Would love it to be for pick 47 but will probably be for 65 and 83 or something like that

47 for Dunn and 57 would be our best outcome I think

But agree more likely 65 or even 83.

Brisbane have nothing between 22 and 78 to offer for Frost.  We might end up with that 78.

Thanks Dunny.

Still remember that booming kick outside 50 that you kicked against the swannies all those years ago.

If the rumour is true then thanks for your service Dunny. I was always a fan and thought you should have gotten more game time this year but understand the club's reasoning.

Given the prowess of our recruiting department we could end up with Pendles out of this.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
