Hi Turner,

A pretty good one. The man who’s job it is to have that conversation with Kobe. Happy to own that statement.

Who's in contention for that list spot??

Why wouldn’t you list him with Casey Demons (where we can keep an even closer eye on him and he would be training/playing with senior list players)? I am sure Casey players are outside our cap.

May still happen CBDees. However the club think it best that he goes to Stingrays and that is what they will recommend. He will definitely not be offered a spot on our list.

We have a few spots open Dazzle as Hore and Nietscke will be on the inactive list. Daw and Smith to be announced soon. The latter they have big wraps on but as a half back flanker not wing or half forward apparently Goodwin loves him.  Will keep a spot for mid season draft but may not use it as “ there is not much out there”

Awesome mate cheers.

Ok boomer

It’s interesting that he still played in the VFL practice match (kicking one of our few goals as well). I hope the club does look at ways to keep him in our system to keep an eye on his development. This doesn’t have to be the end of the journey for Kobe and the Dees.

Any word on where young Kobe will play this season? Will he have a run at Casey or head back west?

He's headed back to Perth.

Thanks Dazzle. Hopefully he has a fair rip in the WAFL and we'll see him come back next preseason

I follow Kobe on Instagram and his story came up and it got me thinking he doesn’t post about Melbourne anymore..

Then I noticed he doesn’t follow the Melbourne Instagram and any of the boys that I can see (only follow the indigenous boys) anymore

has there been a falling out?

Not sure, but I know the club told him at the end of preseason that he’d be considered for the mid year draft. Obviously we took others mid year instead. Fallout may have occurred as a result of that? Speculation though. Would be sad for the Farmer family to have fallen out with the club.

You seem like a very sad and bitter man. Imagine being terribly offended at the idea of parent buying a pizza for a child after not being picked on a sporting team, and then calling others a snowflake? Boomers don't appreciate irony like we do I guess. Laughable stuff, can't wait till your generation is the hell out of my parliament.

Reading into it a bit much I reckon guys.

Don't know about you, but I'm pretty picky with my insta given the way the algorithm works for the feed, and I've definitely 'unfollowed' people from previous jobs or that I don't know that well anymore. Doesn't mean I had a falling out though.

In one of the Facebook MFC groups that I am in, Jeff's partner voiced her frustration and displeasure on there when Kobe was notified that we wouldn't be picking him up at the start of the year. A few pointed out that sometimes it just comes down to being simply not good enough and on exposed form didn't really show much.

Still didn't take it well though. If she felt like that, I wonder how Jeff felt.

Every player from the 2000 Grand final was happy to comment except:

Farmer declined to be interviewed, telling foxfooty.com.au he was “not interested. Happy living the quiet life.”

Just watch Robbo's interview with him a couple of weeks ago. he is a Demon through and through.

I hope the fact that he failed to make the cut at Melbourne hasn’t soured relations between Jeff and the club. He always seemed pretty happy as a Demon.

I mean if it does, it can’t have been that strong in the first place. I’m sure Jeff understands how it works and that it’s not personal.

What makes Bedford a small forward and not Spargo and Chandler? Is it his race?

He’s not Eddie Betts but Spargo has some forward craft - can crumb, can move through traffic. He’s a pretty standard forward flanker. Melksham is a different type of player, he has enough forward craft if it wasn’t for his lack of pressure.

ANB isn’t an AFL level footy iq player but he does have rare physical gifts to play the high half forward. He’s 5% smarts, skills and tackling from being an effective team man. It’s certainly now or never though.

Not really relevant to the thread title, but what a difference a successful season makes (other than Melksham’s lack of pressure)

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
