Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If rumours of St Kilda using around pick 50 for Koby Stevens are true, I'd prefer to get him than Hibberd.

Not for mine. I reckon Hibberd will be an excellent addition. We have enough Koby like players. We have bugger all players who can reliably hit a target 40 plus metres away.

Agreed, loved terry wallac's trade radio review of melbourne and said the most pressing need we had was a hard line breaking half back and Hibbard was exactly that. Made me feel better about giving up our second rounder for him (hopefully next years though).

Totally agree.

Stevens is an inside mid who would be a long way behind Viney, Jones, Tyson & even Oliver by the start of next season one would think.

Hibberd is a gun kick and decent defender who will be playing in a part of the ground where I think we had an average age of about 21/22 all season.

Although this trade period there seem to be a few good players who may be gettable such as Deledio, Prestia, Rockliff, Motlop ,Lewis, Vardy etc etc.. our biggest problem is that we don't have much to deal with.

if we end up with a Hibberd and Lewis I'll be pretty happy.

Looking at that Saints deal, it's actually almost criminal how one-sided it is. Assuming the Hawks slide to the bottom half of the 8 (which is a fair expectation), they basically get pick 10 next year in exchange for pick 10 this year, plus 23 and 36 for free (to use on trades or in the draft).

The Saints are showing us and a lot of other teams how to do clever deals.

Walked Membrey through the PSD
Pick 5 for Carlisle + Gresham was a winner last year.
Steele for next years 2nd rounder a win.
Pick 10 for a 1st rounder, 23 and 36 a huge win.

Still annoys me we gave up so much to GWS for Frost and Tyson/Salem in previous years....

While we are all looking at the Hawks it seems that Goldstein may be on the move:  "A source close to the Kangaroos told WAtoday Goldstein wants out of the Roos because of a personal issue and was seriously considering moving west". http://www.theage.com.au/afl/west-coast-eagles/afl-trade-week-shock-is-roos-ruckman-todd-goldstein-heading-to-west-coast-20161014-gs2gd7.html

Hawks and North have both blindsided their players.

Moral of the story: No surprises-  a club can be ruthless but treat your veterans with respect or else other players will be looking for the exit!

It's a strange one. I don't know why GC wouldn't accept 23, 36 and next years 1st for O'Meara then add all their 2nd rounders this year and move back in to the draft as they see fit. St Kilda have profited a heap from being a 3rd party.

I think the Hawks hope to come out of it ahead purely because it won't be a standard pick 10 as it will net them O'Meara who would've cost pick 1 + something at some stage when healthy. They are backing themselves big time to get him right. They got Tom Mitchell for unders as well.

Tom Mitchell, O'Meara for 2 first round picks around the 14 mark + Brad Hill + 36, that's still a win. Even more with Vickery for free.

Why? Tyson two top 5 B&F finishes, just about to hit his prime, Frost exciting developing backman and Salem, if we can get his health issues sorted, could be anything

I think will have done well with the Tyson/Salem deal but a bit more time on the ground for Salem and we will see.

I also think last year was a masterstroke bringing in Oliver and Weed....but time will tell.

Because as they've repeatedly said they want a player not draft picks....

I like both of them, but we gave up pick 2 and pick 20. That's a massive amount of currency for what became pick 9 and solid player worth about something similar to another pick 9 or so in Tyson. I'm not saying it was a loss. But there's always a chance to have big wins in trades and we haven't had a trade like that for a long time. For us to get something we often have to pay top dollar, which is fine, but to improve quickly we need a win. The saints have pulled off a number of big wins of late.

Didn't the Frost deal also include the pics that git us ANB, and O Mac?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
