Like Richmond, hasn't really played well since late 2013.

Isn't quick or skillful enough to play outside.
Doesn't win enough of it inside
So is really just a rotation guy from half forward through the middle
Struggles with injury

Maybe take a chance on him for free instead of Matt Jones. Maybe.

I think he's got ability but hasn't played enough football in the last year or so with injury.

Sometimes with a guy like him who I would think has an attitude problem they frustratingly don't realise their career is shot till it's too late. Whether us or another team take a chance on him he would have to be minimums pay and trade (ie free) and then maybe it's what he needs to turn his career around.

But he has a lot of baggage. The odds are stacked against him. It's always a nice story when a (percieved) wastrel turns his career around, works hard and becomes a good AFL citizen.

What this shows is that a first round pick is no guarantee and players who can stay injury free are more valuable than those who are a risk of repeat injuires.

I wholeheartedly rate Matt Jones as a better player than Reece Conca.

I wonder if we would have taken Lynch, if GC hadn't

Prendergast told Matt Burgen in his re-cap after the draft that we would've. Instead................we were left with Lucas Cook.

I remember waiting the couple of minutes after the top 10 selections were announced, praying that GC wouldn't take Lynch. They did.

As a result i was hoping that we'd take Darling. What followed was me cursing at the radio for a good 20 seconds. Lucas Cook!!! FMD, i'd laugh if that decision still didn't hurt. I knew right then that Prenderghast had NFI.

Just had a look at the 2010 draft list.

It was not exactly stellar with the benefit of hindsight

http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_drafts?year=2010&t=N

Credit where credit is due, might have stuff Cook (seriously, how did you screw that pick up! The next few were Seb Tape, Brodie Smith, Smedts, Jacobs, Atley, Smith, anyone would have been nice) but nailed 33 (Howe 120 games) and Tommy Mac (104 games). Just for reference those with over 100 games on that list are Gaff, Heppell, Lynch, Smith, Atley, Smith, Guthrie, Darling, Parker, Poppy. Not a bad 12 players there and GC with 8 picks in the top 13 only have 1 of them......

We need pace, Conca isn't quick.

I could chase down Conca after smashing a kebab and two pints...

We need a jet to add some run.

What was your reaction when we drafted Max Gawn.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
