Tex Walker is plying in a different jumper to his team mates.

is this right?

is it allowed?

supposedly in solidarity with Betts.  Means there are 3 different designs on the field!

Posted

Yeah, because the AFL will come out and fine him.

They wouldn't dare face the backlash of the PC police. It will be applauded and Walker lavished with praise.

That should stop people being racist.

Thanks Tex.

The whole thing doesn't even make sense. Eddie Betts is Aboriginal. Bananas come from Africa. At least throw a wichety grub or something if you're going to be a bigot.

EDIT: Just did some research. Apparently bananas come from "Indomalaya and Australia," so maybe it wasn't as inaccurate a piece of prejudice as I thought.

Thx.  Didn't know he changed back before the start.  Traditionally 2 teams, two jumpers.  Glad we hadn't let that fundamental principle slip...

If you've ever watched a Melbourne game, you'd know there are always three jumpers on the field. The Melbourne one, the other team's one, and the three guys dressed in green playing for the other team.

Something tells me that the girl who threw the banana wasn't studying Botanical Biogeography to ensure she was historically accurate.

I actually thought Eddie Betts handled it really well, tried to play it down and prevent it from blowing up. He's accepted the apology of the girl who threw it and I take him to be the sort of guy that encourages forgiveness and education.

As for Tex, I don't see much of a need for him to show support for Eddie as I think most people have given Betts praise but I'm sure he appreciated it anyway.

I still don't see what was wrong with the kid dressed as Nik Nat.
Blackface is an american embarrassment getting shoved down our throats.

It's hard to see the offensive nature of it when you are white.

Personally,I'm sick to death of black guys wearing polo shirts and boat shoes.

The banana isn't about him being Aboriginal, if you do a little research on that you will see the banana is about him being a monkey, as in not as evolved as white fellas. This stems from eugenics which stated that black people were less evolved than white people. This was considered scientific fact 100 or so years ago. That is why the banana is wrong, it is also why called him an ape or monkey is wrong, it is also why it is very very different from calling a white fella an ape or monkey.

Apologies. There seem to be so many who actually have no clue it is hard to tell sometimes.

I personally find it insensitive and a blatant form of cultural appropriation when the white footballers wear the indigenous guernseys. Is nothing sacred.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
