Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If we thought he was so good, why were we happy to unload him to Richmond?

Roos was looking for draft picks, with the idea being that we were hoping to package a couple of first rounders together to lure Dangerfield to the club.  I'm sure we tested the waters with a number of players, and when Richmond showed interest, we bit.

HE IS SLOWWWW, the modern game has past him by!

What position will he play and whose spot will he take??

Eh?

Perhaps he could develop into a role like Luke Hodge floating around half back, reading the play to intercept in a good side where you have some time and space.  Hodge I reckon this year is slower than Trenners but he has re-signed for next season. I think there is still a chance for Trenners to play a role where he can play to his strengths and hopefully with a full preseason and some expert guidance regain some speed. If you are not injured how do you lose speed at 25, you should be able to regain it surely if fit.

Great points  -  I think they help put this issue in perspective.

Sometimes it goes beyond the on-field. The club's retainment of Trengove speaks of the importance of making decisions which also impact the fabric of the club. We got it wrong with James McDonald et al and it set the club back a long way. There's no denying it. Whilst there's every chance Trengove could falter, the key thing, for mine, is how we treat a respected and courageous clubman. It's the right decision.

What should Trenners work on to improve over summer? What are his current weaknesses as well as strengths? What value can he bring to the team in terms of position needs, experience and skills? This is fair and reasonable to discuss, I would've thought, without being shouted down.

I believe if he cannot improve his speed he will struggle to get games. I really hope our fitness guys can work on this. To our medico posters (Webber), it possible to improve speed, esp after his setbacks? His tank will certainly improve with another preseason.

I'm pleased the club has given him another year. Trenners will certainly leave no stone unturned in his efforts to succeed.

Probably just moi, but I'd offer Boomer a 2 year contract with this in mind.

As others have mentioned, a part time sprint coach should be the go here.

Trenners should even be able tio use connections through his sister to find someone appropriate.

That and penetration in his kicking.

His footy smarts, toughnes,  disposal and marking ability are all still there.

Why?? Why a Troll??? Because I have a very valid opinion??

People like you are the reason that this club still is without a premiership 50 years down the track!

A PART TIME SPRINT COACH?? YOU ARE IN NODDY LAND! You can't develop pace< especially when you were never quick to start with!

Sentiment? Bah I repeat whose spot will he take??

Time to take a hard nosed approach to this footy club! Clayton Oliver gets dropped just so he can play at Casey?? Cmon

He should be in the team

WE NEED HIS UNCOMPRIMISING ATTACK ON THE FOOTY!

Cmon lighweight!

Whose place will Jack Tengove replace in 2017??

I ask the same question again if you are not injured how do you lose speed at 25? Most people say he was fast enough at 20, yes he had the foot problem in between but what is it now? He should be mobile enough now to compete.

McDonald peaked at 34.

Which didn't make the premeditated decision to delist him look any better.

He was average for a long time before he got the Khyber.

Disagree, Junior Mac was a sensational player, still quick, when shafted  and a victim of some shizen powerplays between senior club figures!

A much better player than Jack Trengove, and deserved better!

He was good when we cut him but he was lucky to ever even make skipper tbh.

We made the call maybe a year early but tuff [censored].

    GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Carlton

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. The Dees take on the Blues and have the opportunity to win their third game on the trot to solidify a spot in the Top 4 in addition to handing the Blues their third consecutive defeat to bundle them out of the Top 8.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
