Open Letter To The Melbourne Football Club

Dear Melbourne Football Club,

After reflecting on the disaster that was the game against Carlton on the weekend, I want to share some of my thoughts and feelings with you regarding season 2016.

As a passionate member of the Demon Army, I was disgusted by the effort displayed by the team and coaches against the Blues that destroyed any chance of making finals for the first time in ten years.

Sure it was frustrating to see such a pitiful performance similar to the one against Essendon in Round Two and to see the lack of desire from a team that had dominated West Coast and beaten Brisbane, Hawthorn, and Port Adelaide in the space of four weeks.  Was the group getting ahead of themselves once again which is something that we as a club have been guilty of many times over the last number of years? If so, we had no right to based on performances that had delivered only, 2, 4, 7 and ten wins over the last four seasons. A little optimistic don’t you think?

I'm thinking of adopting an Open Letter approach in respect to all those who I may struggle with from time to time, starting with my boss and ending with my wife. I'll let you know how it goes. Obviously wording is key.

Open letter to you.

no one at MFC will give two fccks about your nose being out of joint

do you want to go one better and throw a banana at them?

yes, we lost. Yes, it was crap. Don't you think they know these things?

do they call for your advice often?

sheesh.

Harsh... but fair and accurate.

No harm in venting but that is seriously just wasting peoples time at the club.

Like many on here I was shitty about how Sunday went, but it has been a pretty good year all things considered. It will be even better if Roosy gets the send-off he deserves down at Sleepy Hollow on Saturday. I cannot wait for next season to start.

I like your passion but I think it is a bit misplaced. If at the beginning  of the season you had said that by round 22 we could still be a chance to play finals I wouldn't have believed it. 10 wins including against Hawthorn, Port, Tigers, GWS and Pies x  2 is a good result.

Aren't they one and the same? Saves ink and two pieces of paper (or only the 1 email) I guess.

Not sure whether "rd" means "red" and "draft" refers to ale. Anything's possible, I suppose.

Which is exactly what the open letter said, just in a more extended, self-indulgent, and boring way.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

The Demons head back to Melbourne after an embarrassing loss to the Dockers to take on the Magpies at the MCG on Kings Birthday. With a calf injury to Lachie Hunter and Jacob van Rooyen possibly returning from injury who comes in and who goes out?
