    I thought about Kent, but his kicking, for mine, is just far too inconsistent.

    His kick to Jack Watts across the ground on Sunday was sublime.......not

    Not sure if it helps or hinders his case but that kick was a decision problem not a poor skill execution.

    This. He is a great kick, just sometimes makes the wrong decision. One poor decision doesn't make him a bad kick.

    Yes, have heard the same....but....that means Bomtempelli, Hrovat, Wood, McRae, Liberatore, Wallis, Redpath & Stringers contracts aren't. 

    That means next year there still isn't any room unless some of these are moved on or most of Boyd, Morris, Minson and Murphy retire.

    Or.....they offer Hurley way below what the rest of the market will pay..

    Just about every club would be interested in Hurley.  But only some can afford him.

    Begs the question why we did not use the last two years of non performance to front end a 6 year deal for Hogan.

    The Dawes money would have come in handy for example.

    I felt like it was a skill he leaned way to far back in his action, it floated short. 

    One thing I clearly recall from earlier in the year, coaches are challenging the players to be bold, to take risks. It was a bold call but I felt the skill was poorly executed.

    He is not a bad kick, better than average, but far from a great kick IMO.

    It's semantics, but I disagree, I think Kent's kicking is actually great. The issue is almost always decision-making - at his worst he is dumb and lazy and that manifests itself in kicks like the one on Sunday.

    At his best, though, his kicking is an asset to the side and when he is working hard through the middle of the ground, he is one of the players I want delivering the ball inside 50 (Petracca is another).

    To me he can be a bit up and under, on the run he lets himself down sometimes by failing to take that steadying step or two.

"Hibberd would be crazy to turn down 4 years" Wish him all the best as they like how he plays, but not worth the risk is the common line again. Obviously Hurley is the only one that could generate any emotional response from them (and me)

    in that case they shouldn't expect too much in trade (but they will, being essendon). we need to play hard-ball and wait them out as long as hibberd is determined to come.

    Getting way off topic but I didn't have a problem with that kick. We needed to open it up instead of bombing it inside 50. I thought it was a good decision and reasonably well executed. I know Watts is the man of the hour and rightfully so but he should've marked that. Had he gone a little harder it would've been an uncontested mark and given our best kick in Watts open space to hit a target inside 50.

      The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

      A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term.       Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
