He left collingwood becauise he could not get a regular game.

He cannot get a regular game at Melbourne.

Kennedy was averaging 17 touches and just under a goal a game, and is a renowned competitor. Just because he's playing VFL at the minute doesn't mean he's not good enough for AFL.

Kennedy is a hard nut who excels at VFL level, he is still young enough to have an upside. He has already played some good games at AFL level. He is a keeper!

Because we have one, yes one (and debatable at that) player missing from our best 22 at present. That means some perfectly capable AFL players will miss out. There's a difference between not being in side's best 22 and not being up to AFL level. Kennedy has played 15 games this year and done ok.

you have to factor in that a lot of players in this game got high disposal figures and the opposition was woeful

however, agreed grimes has consistently racked up the disposals and must be feeling overlooked

The MFC brains trust understands the difference between AFL level footy and VFL footy.  They'll remember his last AFL game, which exposed his deficiencies.  He could have 50 disposals in the VFL and it wouldn't excite me.  Grimes is finished at AFL level. 

Oliver is a different kettle of fish.  His attributes are fantastic at any level. 

Ben Kennedy is an exceptional VFL player and can contribute at AFL level, but I doubt he'll ever be more than a fringe player in a good team.

Interesting that the top three possession getters didn't make the best players.

I know Oliver's still very much an inside player and the club wants him to become a more well rounded footballer but surely he's done enough to earn a recall for next week when Melbourne comes off yet another six day break?

No he isn't.

If the club lets him go, as looks increasingly likely, he will get a fresh start elsewhere and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he is a regular contributor in a halfback role.

He had a poor game against Saints. He was pushed forward more as I recall which ultimately didn't suit him. He was in healthy company that day but isn't afforded the leniency that others get. The week before he was more than decent.

So of his two opportunities he had one good, one bad, and out he goes. Still, at least they got him to 100 games.

If no club picks up a player like Grimes I'll be amazed. Is he really that much worse than Jed Adcock, for example? Age wise he is at his peak as a footballer and on today's evidence he'd arguably be one of Richmond's top handful of players at the minute.

If a club takes Grimes it is because he is an FA and they get him for free.  I doubt they would trade for him.

No he wasn't. Michie was by a mile and has been in the best 2 for the last 4 games. He was terrific again today but I realise that he has been written of on this blog. He will do well in Casey's b&F and at 50's for the Liston is worth a few bob on winning that as well, particularly ass he will play the rest of the season at Casey. Missed by 2 votes last year (from 8 games when the winner played 18). Michie played HBF for the whole game and still kicked 2.

Correct, for his size he needs to have elite finishing skills, he doesn't.

I don't think Kennedy will win a brownlow but I think he can be a good little player for us.
