Jones - clean ball user

Vince - usually more creative

Hogan - consistently hard worker

Watts - creative and versatile

Petracca - brilliant in close

Viney - couldn't break free

Gawn - just a shadow

Oliver - creative ball user

Stretch - excellent 4 quarters

Kent - had little involvement

Newton - took his chances

Garland - better without pressure

Michie - little to enthuse

T. McDonald - kept opponent bereft

O. McDonald - far from convincing

Hunt - one exciting run

Neal- Bullen - important one percenters

Bugg - 3 great quarters

Kennedy - needed more involvement

Garlett - regularly looked dangerous

Wagner - promising but flakey

Harmes - took his chances

Tough on Mitchie - thought he was pretty good.  Wasn't as enthused as you in relation to ANB and Newton.  Thought Watts was OK in the Ruck, but still question marks over his hardness at the contest.

Interesting selection dilemma with Tyson, Jetta and potentilly Dawes to come in.

Dawes!

I do not see anyone who would keep Jetta out in that backline today.

Tyson no problem if he is well will be playing in AS.

Agree about Hogan, best on ground followed by Stretch and Watts

Hell no.  He kept his man to 5 touches and a single point  while racking up 18 disposals himself at 77.8%.  You can't knock that effort from a young defender.

Michie is doing the role asked of him and will keep his place.

Roos gives new players 2 games minimum to cement place and find consistency.

We have good depth with B+ players next step 1or 2 Agraders and foundation is there

Billy Stretch was definitely best on for mine.  Ran all day and neat by foot especially. So 3 words for Billy are best on ground or runs all day!

I have a feeling you weren't at the game today.

Jonathan Freeman kicked a goal on him by the way, after missing 2 easy ones.

Fumbled 3-4 times

Overran the footy twice.

Missed 3 crucial tackles.

Outbodied too easily.

He would be smashed in other games with this ...

I was indeed at the game.  Oscar had one job - to negate Schache.  He did that as well as you could possibly expect.  Meanwhile his brother was outbodied and outmarked repeatedly, yet nobody seems to be mentioning him at all.  Indeed, the comment from joeboy is "T. McDonald - kept opponent bereft" making me wonder if he doesn't have the two of them mixed up.

So you're complaining that a kid in his fourth game fumbled a couple of times and was overpowered by older, stronger athletes?

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
