We lose Salem's skill in the backline as well as Dunn's height

You do realise Dunn is 192cm and Garland is 191cm? Dunn does have a weight advantage, but it's not as though we're swapping tall for short..

I have to admit to being surprised by that.  I've always thought Dunn was quite a bit taller than Garland...

If Garlo doesnt compete in the air and do his thing with ball in hand his days as a senior team player are numbered . I reckon he knows this , standards have risen and guys who dont play there role are out , do it continually and your a twos player . He looked miserable at the G in the club area a few weeks back unhappy not to be out playing -  was my interpretation.

Haven't said a word about Garland.... Yet. I'll wait until he's actually played before assessing how it went.

Gentle poke. I believe both you and Colin handled his recent demotion very well. Good luck to him on the weekend - would love to see him attack the game and play well.

Skuit, basically all you've missed is that Demonland has transmogrified into Sexyland.

Watch McAaveny reveal this tidbit when Cometti comments on a centimeter-perfect pass to Lynch for his fifth . . .

Hooly dooly. That one centimetre really comes in handy! Dunn is terrible overhead. Garland can at least mark and cover the ground which is what you need in a zone defence.

Frost is another who despite his height struggles to catch the bloody thing. Five possessions last week of which half were turned over. Such form can never be rewarded. Both of them can't do what they're asked and have paid the price. Simple.

The other half (well 2) were goals.

Stats are great aren't they.

And Oscar Mac is 196cm, 2cm taller than Tom

We're clearly totally committed to zone defence and I look forward to the inevitable Wright vs Jetta aerial contest in the goal square.  In the end what matters is the score GC forwards kick.

I know that Wright is going to outreach almost anyone he stands near but idk about everyone else but id much rather it in his hands than Lynch...

And i also feel like everyone was angry about how big and slow we were last week and now they pick a quicker side and everyone is angry we are too short... I'm happy to look at the side say we are backing in out mids to keep up their clearance dominance and use that our advantage.

If we have a #2 draft pick consistently getting BOGs in the VFL and dominating and is fit while we have other players struggling to get a touch in the firsts then it is a no brainer.

We are fluffing around too much. Get the best in period. We want to win, we want to make finals.

I'm mindful that Trenners has basically been given this year to prove himself worthy of another contract. The last thing he'd want to do is come in too early, break down and effectively end his career. I reckon it's great the club are letting him dictate terms - if Trenners plays a half a dozen games this year, and nails them, then he's off and away with another multi year contract and playing his part in a resurgent finals team. I'm happy to wait to see this.

This is the type of game where we'll allow a bloke like Wright to dominate.

We seem to play these guys into some sort of form.

He'd better not...if I have to listen to Derm, Lynchy, whichever other muppets are commentating continually referring to "Two metre Peter" I'll go spare.

Dwayne: "Melbourne have just coughed that up and allowed 2 metre Peter to mark with no one anywhere near him!"
Derm: "Geeeee he's a big lad, in my day a key position player was 6"1 on the old metrics scale"
Lynch: "Looks like he's going to run around and slot that off the right slipper"

I just don't understand anyone thinking we should rush back Trengove after that injury. Deserves a solid 10 block of games in the VFL at an absolute minimum.

Why would that be? Why not 4, or 6, or 8?

I'd prefer to see Trengove back in the firsts whenever he is fit enough. It seems to me his injury is done and dusted and it's only fitness and endurance that might be the issue.

O Mac is on the plane, late inclusion?

That would depend on where the plane is heading!  (Sorry3Dee!  Couldn't help myself!)

Don't they usually take TWO emergencies away on interstate trips these days, just in case...?

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
