Anyone who argues that umpires don't have an adverse influence on the results of games is kidding themselves. North got kissed on the dick last week, Hawks this week. Is there a mandate from AFL House to completely screw over young teams to protect their finalists? You genuinely have to wonder.

It's great that umpires are letting the head high's go when players are dropping the knees, just a week after we had 40 of them against us. Just great.

May's hit on Martin was disgusting.

May knew what he was doing, too.  You could see it in his face as he ran past the ball and laid him out.  Got Stef Martin right under the chin.

Minimum 4 weeks.

One of the worst hits I've seen in a while.

I agree minimum of 4 weeks.

Seems like every Essendon game has special comments by tim Watson

Well at least it isn't Jab   Wasn't there some talk of him being gifted a TV rôle this year?

They do look full of run.  Will e hard to keep up with

IF we beat the Toiges though the Saints will have no worries at all.  Not with the Dees trying for two in a row ☹️

Just saw the replay.  You could see he wasn't even looking at the ball and was intent only on making contact with Martin.

The look on his face afterwards said it all. He knows he's screwed.

Any sign of remorse?  Or just the 'oh, crap, now I'm going to cop a suspension' look?

He doesn't have a good record either.

Will get 5 or 6.

Not a good look from Ablett either, pushing Martin into an oncoming teammate that was lining him up from a distance.

Anyone putting money on Sam Mitchell for Brownlow?  He's had yet another 40+ disposal game.

Has tagging been banned by the AFL?

Nah, but he has been in my supercoach from day 1. To my eye, he is playing very well and would be polling. He'll be hard to beat from here on in (providing he doesn't get injured).

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
