Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Roos spoke about the players getting ahead of themselves, maybe the coaches are guilty of this.

Why?  The coaches certainly wouldn't be telling them it will be an easy afternoon.  The coaches can only do so much,

They will take the blame for selection though, no doubt about that.

Oliver got the rising star nomination last week and now expert posters saying we should have taken Parish because of today's game.

Classic.

What's worse than picking Oliver over Parish is that with Freo now on the slide at 0-2, it looks like we're going to be stuck with our whinging dud of a full forward.

Wouldn't take the average dill 5 seconds to realise that we have passed over another quick player in Parish  who is deadly with either foot, and plays with some pride in himself and his club.

Hogan needs a rocket, but some of the chat in here is pretty ordinary. Only worth a second rounder? Haha.

He just needs to get back to working up the ground getting his hands on the footy, rather than setting up camp in the goal square, and he will be fine.

And I think he is still intending to stay.

In the 40+ years of being a Melbourne supporter I have never, never been so disappointed. We lost to a rabble, a joke team.

All of the team need to watch every minute of that game once every day this week, look at it and study it. That is not the way you play football.

Yes. Every year the pre-season is 4-5 months, and every year some clubs come out firing and some clubs come out flat. I'm not sure what your point is.

Let's use Richmond as an example. They have made the last 3 finals series and have been bundled straight out. They have been smashed in the media/social media and by their own supporters. Depending on who you listen to and who you believe they are in their premiership window, "top 4 certainties". If you supported them you'd like to think they would use the pre season to not only work on fitness/skills/game plan but to address the issues that have stood in their way. In Richmonds case it's arrogance and choking. Last year they beat Hawks/Freo/Sydney yet lost to lesser opponents come finals. Round 1 they fell over the line against Carlton, they walked of the ground high fiveing and back slapping each other like they'd won a final. Cotchin/Hardwick should of stopped them singing the song. The players should have been told they were lucky to win and considering the last 3 seasons that performance was not even close to an acceptable standard. But no, they sung the song with all the gusto, again thinking they're part of something special. I texted my mate straight after that game and said "I bet they lose next week because they have t learnt". If Hardwick was foolish enough to put it down to round 1 cobwebs then he only has/had himself fooled.

Freo : have some very skilful players, but more importantly are a very well drilled side. Continually get top 4 finishes on the back of building a fortress at home and getting enough away wins against weaker sides. Yet come finals get found out through lack of scoring. You'd think they would be smart enough to address this over the pre season after years of being so close and....no, it's the same old crap again and again.

Teams might tire in the second half until rotations are fully adapted to but by then the damage is already done in some cases.

I had a bit of a laugh to myself today and also last week when on a couple of occasions our kick into the forward 50 was punched back out so far that it almost got to the centre circle. Surely someone would think, "Hang on, I'm not sure this is working".

Not to mention Roos not mentioning anything about the turnovers and lack of effort and desire. Blaming it on being "tired". How can you be tired, we in round [censored] 2!!! Must change things. Please play Petracca and Trengove next week. Drop Harmes, Tyson, Garland. Even Hoges, although they wouldn't drop the genius, once in a lifetime, wonderboy, great white hope forward

Does he need to say this in public? Maybe. But you can bet he's saying it behind closed doors...

Terrific post.

Roos effort was the poorest of the day in my opinion.

Its not just Roos, its the whole lot of them. Couldn't they see the two loose men on the wings the whole game? What were they bloody looking at?

We all saw it in the first few minutes.

Even the way the players came out onto the ground looked flat. No enthusiasm at all.

Demonland at it's finest.

I think it was dazzle who made the comment that Gawn was now 'lazy' after signing a juicy contract, or something like that.  Supporters on here go loopy after a loss.

And you were telling all us throughout the game to stop whinging because eventually we will win. You look just as silly as do most of us so don't try and act as if your the perfect supporter yourself.

Some of us vent through sheer frustration because of the same [censored] dished up for the last 10. We should be in a position now to comfortably knock sides like Essendon off but no its still typical Melbourne same old.

Sick of idiots on here calling other supporters out here for being purely frustrated for what we dished up today.

Really disappointing today, the bombers really came to play and we didn't, which is really surprising considering how much we had to play for.

They did their home work on us and played us one on one with ferocious tackling and then spread on the outside and beat us with their pace.

I don't understand the coach saying we are tired , its their job to manage the teams preparation and training them to optimum fitness and readiness to play AFL.

I think we thought it was just going to happen , but it never did.

Big test next week....we better be ready to play.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
