Why did I get censored???? with this post?

We're talking footy here, not private lives. Read the opening post, and note the 2 other threads which have already been closed.

He bled so much for the MFC, he was in my opinion the best captain we have had since our last flag. Hes the last player to kick double digit goals in a final.  I dont think even Ablett, Lockett or Dunstall managed to kick 10 in a final.

Couldnt care less what hes like off the field or about his personal life, he is a legend of the club.

I first fell in love with Garry in Round 16 1988.  3 virtuoso goals against the Pies on his 50th and we knew we were on a winner....

Pity he or someone close to him actually reads the drivel on this webpage, hence all the censoring.....

I don't think anyone really hates him, we all have a soft spot for him, bled R&B blabla but not the greatest one-eyed media-personality supporter we would have liked and not the best in helping out the club at times..despite his good intentions....

Seems like his private life is a mess and needs to get out of the media gig for a while i imagine...

He's a popular target. Did Stynes get the same scrutiny for employing Schwab?

The Ox also doesn't  cause the same divide as Lyon and over the journey he has been as critical of the club as Lyon has been.

I think another poster also nailed it that the Footy show is so horrific, Lyon is tarred with that brush.

The Ox just seems to come across with such one-eyed honest passion that even his criticisms are painful but acceptable home-truths whereas Garry's criticisms for whatever reason are met with cynicism or considered reactionary innuendo

As far as MFC goes it seems like it's all care no responsibility for Lyon.

As far as him personally goes he just doesn't seem like a good bloke.

Drivel on both counts. Post football career, he's never sought to be a paid employee or full-time board member of the club because of his media commitments. That's his prerogative. He's assisted the club in a voluntary capacity upon request.

And when you make a statement such as "he just doesn't seem like a good bloke", at least come up with something factual to support it.

Think you will find Ox can be quite bias but he also has a fine balance aswell. He spoke passionately about wanting to join thw club and helping out in any way possible to help keep this club that he loves alive during the 2013 seaaon.

Unlike Lyon who Stynes had to beg for, Ox wanted to help in any form. Personally i wish we hired Ox on a part time specialist forward coach to help the likes of Hogan Weideman Hulett and Max King.

The David Neitz Hawthorn forward line coach still grates me.

Find it distasteful when B grade  celebrities  blab about their private family misfortunes in the media.  It appears Brownless  has made sure the whole world knows.  These things are best kept private and the usual rumours and sniggers will eventually die down. I am sure his family especially the kids  will suffer more than they should for it. Very selfish and self serving.

In what way has Brownless "made sure the world knew this'.. Show me a quote from Brownless where he has been blabbing on about his personal life?

Don't mind your work most times but your out of line on this case.

I doubt Gary and the exes have been blabbing. Have a read of this mornings The Age.  Billy opens his heart.

Have you seen a quote or interview anywhere from Brownless or Lyon or their ex-wives? Or did you just make that up?

Alright if you insist on having a rational discussion about this I will have to come up to your level.......Brownless is separated.........Lyon the same......their partners...the same............so there is nothing to discuss......they are free to do whatever.

Where is BBO when you need him?

He opens his heart to his closest mates. He has not ONCE spoke to the Age or the Sun since the scandal broke out.

So you have pretty much taken a swipe at Brownless for an unfair situation and some he never even did.

Poor effort

Not so close if they blab to the media private matters without his Consent.

And Billy is directly quoted in the paper. Better a dignified no comment.

The article doesn't make this clear but the quotes from Billy are from a TV interview he did last year, I think it was during an appearance on 'on the couch' (re reading the article they do mention it was on open Mike, it still could be clearer). I read exactly the same quotes the other day in the other paper than attributed it to this appearance.

The rest of the info has come out because Billy has been speaking to his 'friends'. Although I question how great these friends were considering the info is now out I certainly don't begrudge Billy from talking to his friends, i would actually encourage him to do so.

Lyon was a fantastic footballer for MFC albeit his career was curtailed by injury.

He has a high degree of self confidence and values his own opinion but he's not as good as he thinks he is.  His foray's into footy since his retirement have been disastrous.

Great footballer, ordinary bloke.  Anybody who knocks off the ex wife of a clearly distressed best friend doesn't have a high level of empathy but does have a high level of self interest.

Oh and junior, there is a reason he was never on the Board but I can't say why here. Needless to say it wouldn't have been through lack of desire.

there is discussion in the press that the "relationship" may have been going on for 4 years i.e. when both still with partners

whether that is a fact or not i do not know, but if true it would paint a different picture

slobbo in today's hun also comes to brownless's defense and has a lot of bitter-sweet things to say about gary. needless to say it is a typical rambling, all-over-place article that leads one to believe it was written (like many of his pieces) in the pub. I won't link the web version because it seems to be a lot shorter than the print version. maybe it has got redacted

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
