Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Might only be a practice match but the Hawks still look so superior to any other side. They are so good at getting in the right spots defensively and instantly going from defending to attack.

Bulldogs were very good today as well and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt in the second half. Their good footy is as good as any other team but their personnel isn't as good right now.

North and the Pies have plenty of talent but don't see to have nearly the same level of defensive smarts or ball movement as the Dogs and Hawks showed. Freo and Geel are a bit like that too.

Not as impressed by Richmond, Sydney or Port. All had positives but I get the feeling they aren't as good as others right now. Same for Adelaide.

Besides from what happens with us I'm keen to see West Coast and GWS. They should both win easily and show their class tomorrow.

Richmond looked awful, Port weren't much better and Sydney would have to have some concerns you'd think.

Crows and Gold Coast were an interesting match up I thought - hard to know what the Suns are actually going to be like until the little master returns, but they definitely look to lack tall goal kicking options. Crows looks like they're just going to be super competitive and tough to beat but not in the class of the best six or so sides in the comp.

Really interesting watching Mitchell tonight against North. The way that his "immediate proximity" team mates protect him to the point of delivery by him

to a position of advantage. They usually have no intention of  taking a handball unless he is being tackled. There is a "go to man" and a "get from man"

If he has unimpeded delivery it is usually super effective and can be devastating.

To play/ nullify him is another story, ambidextrous and ambifootstrous would be a necessity.

The only thing that will save Richmond is their draw, getting EFC and Carlton twice. Still think they will struggle to make the 8 though.

This could be the year for the Swans, the year they really do struggle. No one wants to write them off and they traditionally start slow but I think they may struggle to make the 8. Good mid field, some good forwards but in the past they have generated a lot of attack from defence and like to play rope a dope.

Their defence is ageing and they've lost key components plus they have no ruck strength (really miss mummy and now Pike gone).

Lions giving the giants a little touch up at present 30 to 13 at quarter time in a first quarter that looks terrible.

Both sides going in slow motion. If this is it for the giants they're not going to worry us in rd 1. Stevie J looks well past it or perhaps just like a bloke getting a retirement cheque and not giving a duck about a praccy match

Spoke a bit too soon Jako, Stevie J has 3 before half time.  Not quite past it yet.

Stevie J will be an excellent recruit if he stays fit.

Our backline will need to play well in Round 1

line ball decision as to whether Geelong were a year too early...

I don't think Geelong are planning to be at their best this year or even next. They know they need a couple of years for the recruits to settle in and for their kids to come good. Looking 2018-2020 by which time Stevie J, Lonergan, Mackie, Bartel and Enright will all be gone. They plan to have Selwood, Harry Taylor and Hawkins winning flags at 30+ just as the Hawks have done with so many old guys still playing at their peak. So they needed the room to give games to Cockatoo, Lang, Gregson etc instead of having Stevie J on a forward flank.

Doesn't matter how he players, It will only be if Geelong get close and he would've been the difference maker. Which I doubt. I think there will still be a huge gap between them and the top teams.

You could well be right. He is still a very smart Big Game player though

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
