If we thought the odds on appeals for Ess players was pretty lean before, well now as they say in German "pouf" ( not sure of spelling thin air, dump koff).

On a sad note though its pretty disappointing how TWO sacrosanct, and as it has turned out, regimes, that I grew up with have turned out to be corrupted.

The Church and Australian Football.

I think ess want the appeal to be hird in german as it is easier in that language. They are relying on the SGT SCHULTZ  defence." I know nothing."

So, according to the AFL's own website, it would appear that either its left hand doesn't know what its right hand is doing or the Western Bulldog's misinterpreted what they were told. Which can happen when someone appears to be two-faced.

or both.. The AFL is playing things cute ( again/still )  as well as Gordon's Goons trying to play clever by half.

Both lots need their bums spanked big time.

Here is what the rule says about working for the banned players.

22.1 Prohibition Against Participation During Ineligibility

(a) No Player or other Person who has been declared Ineligible may, during the period of Ineligibility, participate in any capacity in an AFL Competition or activity (other than authorised Anti-Doping education or rehabilitation programs) authorised by the AFL, Affiliated State or Territory Body or AFL Clubs, any Signatory or Signatory’s member organisation or a club or other member organisation of a Signatory’s member organisation, or in competitions authorised or organised by any professional league or any international or national level event organisation or any elite or national-level sporting activity funded by a government agency.

I think the AFL will be stuck on the word competition. Prismall is working in a welfare role (lets hope is he has a tertiary qualification to do so or a few on here will get very upset) and they don't see this as direct involvement with how they play, i.e. not coaching. All comes down to what is an activity.

If Prismall is in fact working in a welfare role at the club, he is engaged in an activity involving other players.

Full stop.

We really need a complete overhaul of the AFL Commission which has abdicated the role it was supposed to have when it was first formed.

The AFL continues to give EFC gifts!

It has now declared that Hooker will be an Unrestricted Free Agent!  http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-03-02/hooker-set-to-be-named-a-free-agent?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=RSS+feed%3A+AFL+Latest+News

This means that EFC cannot match an offer but it also means that EFC will get an FA Compensation pick.  Most likely to be pick 2 or 3 - better than any trade they could do. Its hard not to be cynical and think that the AFL asked EFC whether they preferred FA or UFA.  The best result for EFC is UFA which is what they have been given.

As the article points out MFC benefited from pick 3 for Frawley but part of me says that was in lieu of a priority pick.  Also, we weren't at the bottom of the ladder by having 12 of our best players uspended for drug offenses so part of me begrudges the AFL giving EFC another helping hand/gift.

This is when the other clubs should 'vehemently' complain as they did recently for top-up players, as they did against priority picks for us.  Won't happen of course.

i presume he's defined a ufa on the basis he wasn't in the top 25% salary earners at essendope for 2016 (because technically he wasn't a player for 2016) even though essendope will pay their salaries and they are included in the 2016 salary cap. i reckon the afl could prove a duck was a pig if they so chose.

Most of the AFL world seem to live in a land where the entire WADA code is new thing, it is entirely unjust, and it should stick to catching real cheats like the Chinese swimmers, the same ones we all despise because their coaches doped them to the eyeballs. Hang on, that sounds a bit familiar.

Wring part of their code. That comes under tge illicit drug policy they came up with which is where they say they are world leaders. What they should do is simple. The AFL code could go as follows. 'All players are bound by the rules as described in the WADA code'. Then put in a bit about hearings and appeals and the code is written.

The AFL obviously forgot to consult ASADA about whether Prismall could work at the club as a player welfare officer. Gillon only asked Collingwood and Hawthorn what they thought should be done.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
