If he is happy where he is and if the attractive girl I saw him with at a GC restuarant, is his girlfriend and is a Queensland girl and if he thinks the GC have a bright future, he would probably stay.

If she is a Melbourne girl and he misses his family and he wants to play for the team he grew up supporting, we will probably get him.

I went to school with her and she's a gold coast girl.

Both her and Jaegers girlfriend went to my school and they're both friends. I've met them both before and Dion is the more likely to move down but I wouldn't count Jaeger out of moving either just not probably to the Dees.

From what Dions girlfriend has said in the past, she would want to move down to Melbourne.

She is best friends with Daniel Gorringes girlfriend who has just finished her degree and likely looking for a job down in Melbourne.

Sorry, I know like this just sounds like a lot of school yard gossip but I lived with Jaegers Girlfriend and she was in my year at school and the other two were good friends and in the grade below, while Gorringes girlfriend was in my classes at uni.

For some reason just about every girl in my grade or the grade below is going out with a suns player (another friend is going out with Tom Lynch).

I thought that academy idea was for nurturing footballers.

Of course the Saints are interested. They seem to throw their name into the ring for every single player that's rumoured to be available.

This is carrying on from last year, i have absolutely no doubt we are right in the middle of this, just unsure how we are going to get the deal done without a first round pick,

I thought you only had to make sure you used 2 first round picks in a 4 year span. We filled that quota last draft period alone.

Yea we can. Iyiu have to have so many first round picks, I think over a four year period. We used 2 last year. So are placed well.

They already have our first rounder this year so getting another extra one the year after might suit their list management even more.

Just get the wins boys that'll get him, especially if one was against the Hawks. Hey they could all get gastro on the morning.

I too am to believe she would be prepared to move to Melbourne. Not convinced Dion would jump ship, he's smart enough to hold off until new CBA, also has the kind of character to be loyal and take control of something. Once Ablett is gone, the Suns would be Prestia's team if he stays. That said, you can't ignore the Melbourne factor, both city and team.

If he leaves Gold Coast, I'd say there is a 90% chance he'd end up at Melbourne. You're looking at generations of hardcore Melbourne fans and I can't imagine he would ever pull on the jumper of another Melbourne team. His dad I'm sure wants the best for him but he'd be pushing him to go to Melbourne.

"We'll see how I'm going personally and see how the club is going and then consider it after that," Prestia told AFL.com.au.

lol, he's coming home.

The AFL is looking to close the 'draft loophole' that allows clubs to trade up picks by trading with Academy clubs who just want the points and are happy to take lower picks.  http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2016-03-08/draft-loophole-under-threat "The new father-son and academy bidding system drew the ire of some clubs last year when canny rivals downgraded earlier draft selections to accumulate more points with multiple back-end picks"

It has Eddie all over it - motivated by smarting because his club was caught flat-footed and missed the 'trade-up' party altogether and by his hatred for Academy clubs especially the Swans.  The stupid thing is that the proposed change penalises all the clubs who want to trade up!  Like us!  Its a knee-jerk reaction by the AFL to a squeaky wheel.  They should leave the rule alone and stop trying to appease Eddie.

Back to O'meara and Prestia.  With no rnd 1 pick in 2016 if the 'loophole' changes happen and we can't trade up for one, it may makes us much more reluctant to trade away our 1st rnd 2017 pick for Prestia, O'meara or anyone else.

What we now need is more outside speed and it will be interesting to see if either of them have that after extensive leg injuries.  TBH, I don't see either of them getting to the Dees and I doubt we will go after either.

How many games has Dion played in the last 2 seasons?

Very talented, but spending a heap of cash on someone to sit in the stands (watch dawes come into this thread now) isn't ideal.

Exactly the same as O'Maera, I dont get the obsession with these two given they are so injury prone

I don't think Prestia is injury-prone. Yes, he's had a major injury that caused him to miss most of last season but prior to that he'd played 73 out of a possible 88 games for GC. And that includes 2011-2012 when GC were giving their young blokes a rest on a regular basis to help manage them as 17-18 year olds.

As a Qlder, I've seen plenty of him and I rate him. Would love to have him at the Dees but of course wouldn't want to bet the bank to get him so it depends on how much he wants to come to us.

Played 22 in 2014

Robbie Gray also struggled to get on the park for a while there but as we know his last couple years have been sensational

As with everything in the AFL, they have yet to actually clarify this point, have left it as ambiguous as possible to be able to make a call one way or the other depending one what suits them at the time and will no doubt make a last minute decision which will screw us out of being able to trade out a future pick after having done so last year.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
