He's come a fair way...

Before this, that 'skinny kid' just would have stayed skinny and would have been intimidated by even the likes of that walking phallus, Nick Maxwell (I still can't believe he was one of the 'hard men' sent to rough up Jack Watts).

THAT is what a decent development program looks like!

To add some perspective, the sponsor on the jumper in the first photo was Hankook and I believe we parted ways with them in 2011 so it's not like that transformation happened in the space of a year.

Good boy 'Big Max', I'm looking forward to watching Jack Trengove this year too.

He's looking really fit and strong so all he needs is a bit of luck now.

Not a surprise packet as such, because i am backing him in but i reckon by the end of 2016, Max Gawn is in our top 3 players and on par with goldy as the best ruck in the game.

I don't know. Stretch maybe. Maybe being surrounded by hungry young talented footballers, Wattsy, who I'm a big fan of, will crank it up a notch. Just looking at our list and I reckon there are twenty players on our list that share a first name. Max's, Mitch's Jack's, Jakes, and it goes on...coming out our a%$^s! Is that normal? I can't do the research because I could not be bothered in the slightest to look at another AFL club's list. Actually, doesn't matter. Its not important. Go Dees.

Jayden Hunt. The kid has talent (and jet-boosters). He just needs a run at it, and that's (finally) looking likely.

And.

Though not at all a surprise, i expect Jack Watts will have a very good year.

One of the factors that make Jesse Hogan so extraordinary is that he did not take the usual 4–6 years to come-on.

The haters tend to forget that Jack Watts was drafted as a skinny 196cm 17-year-old. They still treat him as a messiah, albeit a fallen one.

God save poor Sam Weideman from rediculous expectations.

:)

Don't worry about Jack.

Jumbo Returns has worked out a formula whereby Jack is actually only playing his 3rd year of footy in 2016.

So exciting that there are so many players who could legitimately show huge growth and surprise us.

I'll chose Trenners, and have a feeling Watts will truly arrive. Perhaps overshadowed by Petracca!

I'm Gonna go left field here and say Dawes. I think he will start feeling the pressure and will life his game.

Grimes is another I expect to have a cracker of a year

hmmm...well Petracca wouldnt be a "surprise" and neither would Hogan, VanDenBerg ,Gawn, T mac, Vince, Jones,Garlett or Brayshaw. In fact, to be able to list so many players Im confident about is a surprise in itself. But If I had to pick someone that I think will be a surprise Im gonna say its a tie between Trengove ( all fingers crossed ) and Kennedy ( speed and creativity)

Great Video on Players to Watch

H was typically humble.(himself)

Gawn was typically legendary(Trenners)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
