On 6PR this morning said he's looking to play on at another club. Thinks he has at least 2 years in him and maintained his fitness while refereshened up during his suspension.

Good experience and a superb tagger if we want to free up Vince and Viney.

Would be a very cheap pickup as a DFA.

Roos is trying to build a culture and you start a thread thats quite the opposite to what we are trying to achieve?

Bizzare

Again I would leave this up to the coaching fraternity.

A wealth of football experience.

I'm currently questioning the culture building, we've recruited 2 people, who were 100% involved in the worst culture imaginable.

I don't see anything bizarre about it. Roos is trying to build a culture that puts the team first, we play as a team a unit not of self serving individuals. The essence of the team is about playing your role, now correct if I'm wrong but crowley is pretty damn good role player who certainly puts the team first.

And had no control over the decisions made, and removed themselves from that environment shortly thereafter...

Unless you're referring to Melksham, who again had no control over it, and again removed himself at the earliest opportunity.

I'm referring to Goody and Jake. I accept that they were most likely caught up in something they had no control over but there is the possibility that they were indeed complicit or, caught up in the "whatever it takes" and associated possible benefit of success. I bet they were feeling pretty good about themselves when they were flying on the field. Who knows? Only the people at Essendon know what went down. I'd have preferred we just avoid them like the plague.

McCartney was there too.

He and Goodwin are class acquisitions by the club.

No one should blame the younger players at Essendon at the time of the cocktail party either. Poor kids were used as human pincushions.

If anybody wants to point their finger it should be firmly aimed at 'he who had a 6 week Bali holiday tan in the middle of a cold Melbourne winter'.

Ironing out this bloke with a shirt front, and calling Danners to tell him he was too hung over to play are my only two memories from Byron Pickett's time at the MFC.

Wasn't it Brett Peake? I thought it was but you're probably right.

I remember whoever it was bounced about 10 feet in the air.

A very good point. Poignant.

Went looking for a video, but all I could find was this thread: http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/pickett-wont-get-4-just-2-i-reckon.241695/

2006. Nearly 10 years ago. :o

Yep was definitely Crowley. Broke his cheekbone according to Wiki.

So it was even better than I remembered.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
