Ben Lennon

Norm Smith's Curse

Recommended Posts

Funny thing is that during his draft year he was criticized for his lack of athleticism and yet, when I saw him playing for the Tigers he looked a solid footballer with a bit of excitement about his play.

Yet he was dropped from the team for the final against North Melbourne. Was a reason given?

Yes he will.

Serious...youd think a straight swap possible..even likely ?

Would you swap Grimes for him?

If asking me ?

Yes ..simply on a needs basis.

Grimes will struggle to retain any position off the half back. We have Harry and it now seems Milkshake for those roles. Lennon may be able to be developed into a half decent workman like mid.

Just on that id do the swap. No real cost to us. No malice to Grimesy but he has his limitations. Fresh fields for him too.

Lennon could be a good get. Has shown some glimpses of talent but is still a mile off reaching his full potential.

I have to wonder why he remains unsigned. Richmond want Yarran, an extra pick inside pick 50 would help them grease the wheel with Carlton.

Grimes and a 3rd rounder might not be enough though.

They dropped him for Griffiths I think? So it was more of a "match up" thing as they wanted to go tall forward with Riewoldt, Vickery and Griffiths to stretch north's defence.

Didn't work and I think if they had their time again they would go with Lennon over Griffiths. A lot of Richmond supporters weren't happy when the change was made and even more annoyed in hindsight.

Get it happening.

If reports are true of the Tiges wanting Grimes then throw in a pick with him and we'll take Lennon.

Grimes and a 3rd rounder for Lennon?

I think we need to keep building on this 'core' young group who will be the ones driving the club in a few years.

All really highly talented and competitive kids at a similar age.. The driving force. Players like Melksham, Bugg and Kennedy obviously help by adding depth and providing immediate relief and protection for some of the other kids we have coming through. We'll also need a couple more experienced heads like Cross over the next year or two.

But the most important thing for us at the moment is to keep adding to this group. Lennon fits the bill. Skilled, competitive and at a similar age.

There would be no point in us keeping Grimes if we get Bugg.

But it seems too good to be true that we could package him with a third rounder for Lennon.

I dont understand why Lennon is even on the table to begin with. You would have thought that the tigers would have had a contract extension in front of him a long time ago.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
