HOW DO WE GET PRESTIA WITHOUT A 1ST ROUNDER FOR NEXT YEAR

That's my question? Plus don't we already own pick 43?

We trade out a player next year and move up the draft...

We have traded picks to trade for a player. We do not intend to take these picks to this years draft.

You're batting 0.500

  • very early call on Neeld
  • Dangerfield outfield catch last year

People have a little faith. We are not the same club we once were.

Absolute ripper deal!

The pundits are saying that this is a weak draft.....beyond the top dozen. We now have 2 picks from the strong options.

We have to amass good talent today. Not next year or the year after.

As SWYL said...we have to start winning games!

And if we do start winning in 2016 the pick we have forgone next year won't be as valuable.

Bringing in 2 kids doesn't guarantee immediate improvement. If pick 10 is used on a genuine A grader, then fair enough. It also doesn't answer the question of how we get Prestia next year.

Mahoney just on radio saying we are definitely going to draft with both picks... planned to add 2 top 10 players past few years and now again this year (Salem/Tyson) (Petracca/Brayshaw).

So not entirely sure where you are getting this trade idea from...

Seriously, that's just plain dumb. 2016 is supposedly a much stronger draft, we are currently 15th or 16th in premiership betting, and we're prepared to risk giving up a top four pick. Is Parish really that good?

Potentially, IN picks 3, 10 and 43 in a weak draft; OUT pick 4 in a strong draft, 6 and 29 in a weak draft. How is that possibly a win for us?

We only give up a top 4 pick if we finish in the bottom 4. Plus, strength of a draft typically refers to how deep it runs - I haven't paid attention to the draft for a few years but typically the top 10 players are similar in talent year to year and it's the depth of talent that varies dramatically.

Also, as it's a picks for picks deal the points system can be applied for analysis:

3(2,234 points), 10(1,395) and 43(378) = 4,007 points

6(1,751), 29(653) = 2,404 points

The points difference is 1,603 points, equivalent to pick 8 (between 7&8). So if we finish 11th or higher we 'win', 12th or lower and we 'lose'.

Mahoney on trade radio now:

- This was intended Howe trade. Fortunately, Gold Coast were "true to their word" and we're happy to take the pick we received for Howe.

- We will take picks 3 and 10 into the draft.

- Bugg deal will get done, but most likely tomorrow

- Club is happy to "back in the young talent"

- Kennedy and Melksham will be good pick ups

If the better player(s) and hopefully quicker improvement mean that Hogan signs a new contract then it's an improvement regardless.

Great question demonlad.

Our 43 turned into 46 after fa compensation. 43 was originally 40, gc's 3rd round pick.

GNF's claims immediately refuted by Mahoney on radio, nice one you [censored].

No need for the abuse Seraph, GNF is just passing on what he has heard.

Just cause he says it doesn't mean it will happen but could maybe be a possibility.

It's amazing how our recruiting department has been able to broker a great deal with GC netting two top 10 picks for this year - for the now, and the immediate question is how do we net an opposition player in 12 months time without a first round pick.

Seeing as 99.9% of players get to the club they nominate, do we need to worry what might or might not happen in 12 months time??

Agreed. Hope we dont miss out on a gun next year but presume we have our picks lined up.

Sorry but if you get told something then Josh Mahoney says it's completely false 5 minutes later, you should probably question the word of whoever is giving you that information.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
