2015 Player Review - # 6 Chris Dawes

Dawes......some are open and others shut, Some are revolving. Some are ajar, some are jambed. This one's a bit stuffed overhead and I just can't quite get a handle on it. I'm inclined now to go in search of one that works ^_^

Post of the Week.

I was told to watch a clip of Chris Dawes on CH 7 interviewing rapper 360 cause it was 'quite good'. Turned out it was actually Jamar.

Even when not taking a set shot at goal, Dawes has the ability to get your hopes up and then let you down.

I do wish though he would slot 3 every game like he did against Norf this year, though it seems to be a once a year treat from him going on his performance in Adelaide in 2014.

He has had a very disappointing year. If injured then there could be an explanation but if it is his long term calf problem then he may never be able to offer more. In which case I doubt if he would be offered a contract extension.

As one poster earlier said, I would actually prefer to develop Fitzy who is surprisingly athletic for one so tall. (I would hope that one tunnel ball brain fade would not mark his papers.)

I don't care if Dawes applies no defensive pressure whatsoever. Don't care if he never rucks to give Gawn & co a break.

I don't care if he only gets 5 possies a game. Provided he turns 2 of those into goals. With the occasional bag of 3.

His calf problem, if there is one, does not explain why he looks like he's playing volleyball with himself when taking a mark. First touch, set (to self); second touch, spike.

For a key forward not to be able to wrap his hands around the pill is such a major deficiency that no other attributes can make up for it.

I didn't pay much attention to what he was like at Collingwood, so was wondering, has this always been a deficiency of his? It's so frustrating how he gets hands to the ball but so often doesn't complete the mark... it's like he's centimetres from marking everything, every time?

I just can't see the point to persisting with Dawes any further. He is not capable of being the player we need him to be, and I would much rather get games into younger players. Even if that means moving Dunn / McDonald / Garland forward so we can play Frost or Oscar in defence.

Pedersen is a much better option than Dawes anyway, and additionally I hope we can find the next Josh Bruce in the trade period.

You are dead right poita but wouldn't that have been a very weird few words to write just a couple of years ago.

Quite extraordinary we are blowing such a large portion of the salary cap on this bloke. At any other club he would be on 100k, hes probably on 500-600k at Melbourne.

At the time most of us were pleased to get him. Hasn't turned out how we would of liked. If Pedo/Frost are fit and depending on who we draft I've got not problem with him seeing out his contract as Casey.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
