GAME DAY - Round 21

I'm normally pretty good on game day... this just has an Essendon feel to it, and we all know how that worked out.

I'm still very hopeful we can come out and smash them but previous form in games like these leaves plenty to be desired.

I have fairly similar feelings.

It could be my last game today

Unless we win this I doubt I will venture to the Dome of death in the last round.

I hate these sorts of games. There's no avenue for satisfaction - we either win as expected as the opposition have the cue in the rack, or we somehow lose and suffer that embarrassment.

Hope Hogan kicks 10, or something else happens that makes this dead rubber worth watching.

Eh, I disagree tbh. If we have improved we should value games like this as a means to fuel confidence going into the off-season and build up momentum going into 2016. I know there is a big gap there during the pre-season but I don't think we should undervalue wins, no matter who they're against or what there is to gain from the match. I don't think Carlton wants to win its 4th spoon in 13 years after having 0 spoons in 100+ years prior. Barker also has something to coach for.

Every win for this club at this stage is important. We can't undervalue that. We diehards don't value this as much as the casual or neutral fan trying to weigh up whether to invest in the club in 2016. We should smash them by 10 goals.

Winning games and winning games well when they should is just one of many corners the club has to turn. They haven't done that for years. Coming out and giving Carlton and sniff would undermine a lot of what Roos wants to do, a lot of the narrative coming from the players, and, really, the salary we're paying Roos.

This is a pretty big game insofar as it's a match we should win and win well.

Lucky there is no Waite or Robinson today-thanks Mick.

Dees by 5 goals .

had a lobster on hogan first goal into 60& win go dees and hoges

The line yesterday was -13.5pts........you would think we should get that easily.

I dont get this mindset Nasher... any win should be satisfying for MFC fans. Ill never take any win for granted after what we have dshed up since 2007.

just watch how little joy is taken, or little credit given, when we do

If we win I get free drinks and the weather is splendid.

Could also be my last game at the G until next August.

Otherwise this game is going to suck

Need to develop a ruthless, play the full 120 minutes, culture. Would be great to see that starting from today!

A note to Paul: "Please advice the lads to kick the ball as quickly and directly as possible to Hogan, and If hogan has even half a meter gap on his opponent he will most likely win the contest or bring it to ground for Garlett and other smalls...

It makes the forwards job so much easier when the ball comes down to them quickly before the opposition can set up the defensive zone or flood our forward line....

Please us the centre corridor, I would prefer to see us take some risks than to loose like we did last week"

Kind regards.

Melbourne by 14 goals.

Hogan to kick 8

Garlett to kick 5

Watching to see Garlett really give it to his old club........

And here I was thinking Casboult would kick six.

What's a Matthew Watson? Can it kick goals?

Has been in really poor form in the VFL.

He will kick 5 today

With Carlton's dearth of tall forwards, don't be surprised if Tommy gets thrown into the forward/ruck role today.

Was quite good when he went on-ball last week.

Woke up with a killer cold and now doped up to my eye balls on Codral. Wheeee!

We better beat these mugs today, but I guess it all depends on which Melbourne come to play.

Casboult out actually makes me feel a little better.

He's just the kind of oversized unreliable key forward that has a tendency to have their one really good game each year against us.

Partly because we haven't had anyone to match up on that type since... Ben Holland?

Losing Casboult means that we now have a very suitable match-up for all their forwards, even with Jetta out.

They have so few really dangerous midfielders that I'm confident that our cluster of defensively capable midfielders can close that threat down.

Their defense is short. If Hogan gets the measure of Michael Jamison... look out.

Hope they put a hard tag on Cripps. His clearance work is borderline elite.

Classic Carltank.

These are the games we love to lose though - so it will be a hard fought battle to see who can get the worst disposal efficiency

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits. Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t
