Might not want the spoon but they want Pick#1.

Agreed. Think we should be a lock for next week now.

Unless Carlton want pick#1.
They won the Gibbs cup and Kruezer cup.
Thats 2 for 2.

Yet we got done for tanking.

Essendon. The whole club is like a protected species. The MMM after-match commentary had the supporters phoning in tearing strips off Tird and the club while the hosts [censored]-footed around the issue of this malfunctioning team. I don't recall them being so generous when we have been thrashed, or Carlton, or Brisbane, or any other club going through a bad patch. Carlton are the most recent and didn't they just rip in at the scent of blood?

Mods. Get a grip of the censor. pu55y as in pu55yfoot and pr1ck is not allowed nor is [censored] to describe a person who tosses the coin !

They will be fine. Fitzpatrick runs the show so "nothing to see here.....move on"

Crowd at Ethiad on a saturday afternoon for Essendon - 25,914.

That's with allegedly four times the supporters as Melbourne.

I wonder how they'll be going after three more years of being 'cr4p to appalling'?

What an interesting AFL scene it would be in Victoria with Carlton & Essendon in the cellar and Collingwood continuing to fade.

Lol, the one thing we could be sure of, it would see 'equalisation measures' move way up the agenda.

If we start to climb then, it'd be bloody fantastic. We might even be able to steal a few of those bandwagon jumpers. :P

Carltank is back.

Their list is bad...but not that bad.

Their list is horrendous. Half of them are VFL players at best. Perhaps even 2/3s. The delusion of their board and MM that they were close to a tilt at the flag. Their arrogance has brought them undone. I love it.

The draft is the single most important day for any AFL club and now it is clear that even Carlton are worse at it than Melbourne. They should be a powerhouse of the AFL right now.

The problem for Carlton is their poor recruiting (outside of Cripps) is still going (first round pick for Blaine Boekhorst) whereas Jason Taylor stemmed the bleeding for us.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Carlton have been so poor since Barry Prendergast arrived at their club. Good work, Barry.

Just saw the Essendon scores.. wow. Hird is the worst coach in the AFL by a mile

HH has he taken that mantle over from his assistant coach Mark Neeld? MN set a record I thought could never be broken.

Whose list is worse? Carlton or Essendon?

It's a fun game to play.

Think it's Essendon, but only just. And that's because you know Silvagni will start towards turning that list over from the end of the season.

If Hird's still with the Bombers, he'll probably want to top up for a tilt at the premiership!

Imagine Hird gets sacked, and Neeld coaches out the season.

Heaven.

We should be murdering Carlton next week.

[EDIT] That said we are the only team not to murder Essendon so as someone said earlier; nothing is a lock.

Ess as even how bad they are now no one, besides old players, seem like they want to move to The Hanger. Suck chit. It is going to be a long time in the wilderness, until the AFL gift them a priority pick because they have a large support base.

Thought our umpiring was bad.

West Coast have had 19 free kicks. And there's still 5 minutes left in the first half!!

No WJ they haven't but I can't see why Freo would want to win this one. They have top spot sown up and they would want to make the Dorks finals campaign as hard as possible, that means not helping them get top 2 but making them travel as much as possible. Just wondering if coaches can change how games are played by changing their normal tactics. An example from the past was the Krueser Cup where the Blues chose not to man up on TJ to the tune of 42 possessions so if you let a play maker have a free run the game opens up. Anyway it may turn out to be the usual brutal affair but all that will do is aid the Dorks quest for 3 in a row which seems almost inevitable at this stage.

I think I was on the money with the Derby result. Haven't seen the match as to whether it was more free flowing than usual but the outcome was very predictable. Maybe Adrian Anderson should investigate this one?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
