Will Big Max re-sign?

Dees2014

Recommended Posts

I noticed on several occasions post match certain commentators conspicuously pointed out that Big Max is out of contract at year's end and he has not yet re-signed. They tended to come from clubs notorious for pinching our players: Hawthorn, Freo, the Swans, Geelong.

Does anyone have any idea if there is a problem? If not, why has he not signed? You could imagine in current form he would have considerable market value. I have stated a number of times on here in the last two years that Max will be in our half a dozen most important players in our next premiership side.

It would be a disaster if this was to be cut short by a rich vein of form when he has only played less than 40 games

I would be shocked if he left, have a feeling old Maxy will re-sign with us.

So do I actually. The danger is another Boyd moment where the offer is just too good to refuse. You would think though that loyalty would come into it considering how much development we have put into him, and the number of injuries he has had.

I know WJ has had a considerable amount to do with him, it would be interesting to know his views.

He better after we spent 6 years developing and nursing his knee good

Yep, Maxy better re sign because of the overwhelmingly great development we have had at this Club.

We should be happy the bloke ain't mentally stuffed like the rest of the kids pre Roos/Goody/Macca. We have an obligation to pay him exactly what the market demands plus overs after he has had to experience the last 6 years here.

The club stuck by him because it was in the club's best interests to do so.

Honestly, if you think the club is just a benevolent society for blokes with multiple knee injuries that they keep paying because they feel sorry for them, you are living in la-la-land.

Only reason why he is with us because of his company alongside Matt Jones building wooden furniture.. I think we now have to extend Matt's contract now if we want to keep Gawn :P

I've heard Matt Jones furniture folds up and collapses to the ground under any pressure.

The only extensions Matt Jones will find is in a hair salon.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
