Only Melbourne supporters could be broken enough to want their own players suspended just to see them out of the team.

In a team full of peahearts, keeping the biggest peaheart of all just to maintain currency seems a wildly shortsighted decision in the midst of a "cultural overhaul."

There doesn't appear to be fire in his belly the way there was when he coached the Swans.

Actually whilst Roos has good credentials you make a good point. He is on a squillion dollars and money in the bank. No doubt he is trying his best with a rabid losing club, however we are all fed up and sick of losing games.

If we cannot drag ourselves out of the bottom 4 this year, the club can go looking for others to pay their bills. I've forked out thousands over 3 decades and patience is defiantly at the crossroads.

Roos is doing what he can, execution is up to the players on the field. whether he let a spare hang around in the backline is not the issue its the score on the board, we had more than enough chances to win this game but failed to execute even basic things. We had too many players who could not kick straight, who did not run, chase, tackle or show any great desire. Roos cares and Roos wants to win, not sure some of our players are so dedicated though.

as per another post in a different thread - lumumba, grimes, garland, cross, howe (when playing defensively) and potentially even dunn all play the 'third' tall role. we can't have them all in the team at the same time, as other than lumumba and occasionally grimes and howe, none provide any rebound whasoever. when he gets it, garland sits on it. when he gets it, lumumba turns it over.

if fitz has another good game as a defender next week, there's no reason why he shouldn't be an automatic in. it'll allow dunn / t-mac to play less on a giant and more on someone their own size.

You've hit the nail on the head though - we just do not have nearly enough experienced, consistent players.

I'd bring Grimes in, he's at least experienced, and then, if he has another decent game at Casey, Fitzpatrick. Hard to see any other changes doing more than just shuffling the deck chairs until the likes of Salem and Kent can return.

Grimes has to come in. Was in very good form pre injury. Probably drop Stretch and play Grimes as a defensive forward on Hanley if he runs off half back. Would not be upset to see Howe dropped for Fitz.

Garland won't be dropped nor should he be. I would much prefer to drop Dawes and bring in Fitz whose versatility to play ruck, back or forward would be handy.

Play Fitzpatrick back and play whoever remains of Dawes and McDonald forward (preferably McDonald).

There were a couple too many youngsters today. I am impatient and want to win games of footy right now. All of those 3 listed have a future, and they will work there way back into the team when ready. The experienced bodies replacing them (Grimes, Newton, Michie) all have a chance, unlike the likes of Bail, McKenzie or M.Jones.

Although, perhaps Harmes can have another week as sub and Michie stays out.
