Could someone let me know how Watts was today?

He was good - backed up last weeks effort.

He now seems to go into contests hard and is backing his pace and foot skills (think he has finally turned a corner)

Next step is to be able to float forward and kick goals caus we cant rely on hogan and Garrlett all the time.

There was that one moment where he marked 10m in front and went to play on - almost stuffed it up - should know better then that. (you dont see hawthorn and sydney stuff those up)

Was out all morning (I'm OS), no wifi, no news. Couldn't believe the result. Fabulous.

Don't have the time to hack my way through xx pages of the Gameday thread, but wondering, did anyone promise to leave Demonland if we won?

Just checking.

Yes I believe someone did......

Excellent. Physical and with usual vision. Chased, tackled, competed. He gets it now. Last 3 games he's a different player.

We actually have a midfield now and some depth in reserve.

Gawn and Spencer feeding them made a huge difference.

It is hard to believe Brayshaw is a first year player - Voss like in his attack on the ball.

Very good game. Continued on from last week. Much more engaged in the play.

I thought he was very good, went hard, tackled, chased, did all the things you demands from your players.

Used the ball well.

May be unpopular but i don't know if we would have won that if jesse played, we bomb to him way to often, his absence made us lower our eyes

Decent game. 19 disposals and a few important score involvements. If he can bring that every week there can be no complaints.

Midfield of Gawn, Vince, Jones, Viney, Brayshaw looks capable of winning a lot of footy against most opposition. We have a contested game that we can build a plan around.

On the contrary , knowing we had either Gawn or Spencer ( or Dawes ) competing , we DID bomb it in , and often

Can't believe this.

5 goals last week not good enough?

Anyone else got a list of Geelong supporters to talk to at work tomorrow?

I'm taking tomorrow off the way this Pale Ale's going down.

Cheers everyone.

It IS hard to believe. A very very rare talent. He is a one touch handler with no preferred foot. I particularly love that he lopes like he's stuffed, then BANG!, he's gone and the ball's suddenly in the forward line in a teammates hands. As pure a footballer as I think I've ever seen.

Nothing to do with jesse as a player, our entries were quality today, that cant change when he comes back

RN - you were so right about Gawn. Apologies, mate.

Not really JB i was just referencing last year's marking efforts and thought 2 games wasn't enough to judge him on that was all. Wasn't expecting such a turnaround this week!

You got your wish though! And then some i think ....

Idgaf who gets picked - I don't want another meek effort against these pricks.

I want them hurt.

Dont forget Vanders! and tyson if he returns to form

Id like to know what happened 3 or 4 weeks ago. Something seems to have clicked, at last.

Agree that the bombs are possibly a little overdone overall SPR but i did see the Jones boy lower his eyes and hit him up on at least 2 occasions last week. Pretty sure the Hulk goaled from both of those lace outs.

I was very pleased with Dunn's game. Best game for over a year. Stuck to Hawkins like a leech. This was back to his AA form at last. A big thumbs up to Gawn and the midfield for three weeks of continuous improvement.

The great tackle i50 on Varcoe against the Pies on QB and the resulting goal HH.

Monkey off the back from then (reversing the gang tackle in opening game against same team 7 years earlier and questionmark over physicality)

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
