He made David King cry. Crying that he didn't get suspended for annihilating Hurn.

Boohoo Kingy, boohoo.

At least that superstar Schofield is free to play. His 6 touches will be vital.

Don't forget too that his Brownlow eligibility has been protected.  Maybe Gil knows that he is in the lead at this stage.

Kingy had a point in that it wasnt equal, but his point was wrong - ziebell shouldnt have been given anything

Only 3 of them were actually effective... so I'm sure the Eagles are stoked they'll be able to retain that incredible output.

Love that Clarry has more effective touches in one match than Schofield has in two months

I was told on BigFooty by some very involved Eagles supporters that we shouldn't judge by possessions alone. I countered that this must surely mean that Schofield would have stopped Tommy McDonald's goal in the dying minutes instead of being completely unsighted. Not much in the way of a response.

Jordan Lewis on 360 tonight said Viney’s injury was normally a six week one but he recovered in 16 days. He said some players can play through pain better than others and that mental strength has a lot to do with it. Jack Riewoldt then talked about cousin Nick and his ability to play through injury and made the link to Jack.

I wasn’t a fan of Viney being promoted to co-captain but it would be difficult to find a more inspirational and hard at it footballer or one more dedicated to the cause.

The bloke was born to captain this club

Agree. It was absolutely the right decision, even though I too didn't agree with it at the time.

Goodwin. He is going to be our Sheedy.

I loved Tyson's comment from the weekend.

“He’s remarkable. I don’t think he feels pain,”

“A truck could hit him tomorrow and he’d still play,”

It's a shame he played in seperate century's to his old man. My team of the century picture hanging on the wall is a prized possession. He will be in the next. At the moment Whelan and Jetta have the back pockets. Viney in the centre. Neitz at full forward and every other position is up for grabs.

Disappointed to eagerly open this bump and not get a fix of crushed bones and twisted arms.

The great man is confirmed back for round 8 vs Gold Coast.

Looking forward to more opposition tears courtesy of our maniacal skipper.

If we win this week and then get Viney back next week we could through undefeated for the remainder of the season.

I thought this had been bumped cos were playing the Saints and it was time to relive the Mac Weller weak as [censored] fend off!

What amazes me isn't just how hard he hits, its that when he GETS hit, he gets right back up.

He must have a huge tolerance for pain.

I think I remember reading an interview where he said what he loves about footy is pulling up the next day with all the bruises.

Rambo. Or the Terminator.

Fantastic set-up I'd reckon...

2 weeks away, according to the man himself. Is that round 8? Sounds about right.

Called it.

Second game in, you're supposed to put in a shocker.

This gun gets a lazy 35 touches and is inspirational and desperate as usual.

WHAT A FOOTBALLER❤️

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
