Posting Unsubstantiated Rumours on this Website is Strictly Forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Many here can knit-pick at his odd mis-kick etc..

This bloke is so un-Melbourne and will have a huge say in changing our culture. He has heart and guts and gives 100% every minute. So many credits in the bank, it aint funny.

Injuries aside, Brayshaw, Viney and Kent in the middle in the 2019 GF might be a pipe-dream, but they will stand up on the last day.

That tackle on Weller was epic. Honestly i thought for a second he did some serious damage on his shoulder.

He basically just tackled him by the arm, having had no choice after Weller gave him the "don't argue". It would have seriously hurt, and also happened to leave Weller no legal way of disposing of the ball. Loved it.

Have we got a black'n'white instagram pic or slide of young Jack having a go at the older school bully?

There was, for instance, an address early in that first year of 2005, before the team had experienced its first win, when Clarkson told a story concerning Jack Viney, Todd's 12-year-old son. The previous Wednesday, Jack had intervened when he saw the school bully picking on one of his best mates. As Clarkson told it: ''Jack goes up to him and says, 'Cut it out! Get your hands off my mate'.''

The bully was bigger, older and stronger and responded by taking a swing at Jack. Not one to be intimidated, young Jack answered by hitting the bully so hard he broke his hand.

''Now, I don't know whether Jack Viney is going to play footy, but I want to draft him now!'' Clarkson declared.

What followed was a direction to apply ''the Jack Viney mindset'' within the rules of the game, and an invocation to play what, three years later, would be dubbed ''unsociable football'' by Nathan Buckley. ''When we go out there today, don't wait for the forwards to be picked up,'' said Clarkson. ''Go to them and say, 'Righto, I'm playing on you! It's me and you, and let's see who is going to win the battle'.''

disposal can be dodgy on the kid sometimes, but all of his other qualities outweigh this.

Outweigh it by miles too.

I can't help but wonder when reading comments about his body needing to mature. The punishment for such comments should be a Jack Viney body slam.

Viney has the unlikable quality to play against.. He actually likes hurting people.. He's not one to throw punches or cheap shots... But he will always do the hard things (heavy bump, tackle) that will make the opposition players think twice when he is in the area.

Massive part of our future and we really take him for granted right now.. Wait till he plays 60 games and starts really hitting his straps.. He hasnt even played 40 games yet!

And to think that some people on here thought at the start of the year that his place in the team would be in jeopardy, and he'd be superceded by the next crop of young mids. Laughable. His appetite for the contest is 2nd to none at the club, and that's something you can't teach.

What amazes me isn't just how hard he hits, its that when he GETS hit, he gets right back up.

He must have a huge tolerance for pain.

I think I remember reading an interview where he said what he loves about footy is pulling up the next day with all the bruises.

To be fair, I doubt that view was shared by the overwhelming majority. The great thing about forums like this is the variety of views; the cost of that is you get the odd silly one pop up.

They were the same posters claiming Bail was going to have a break out year after 6 years in the system. A hard runner perfectly suited to Roos' game style, they said.

Viney's a beauty and seems to have taken the next step with his footy. Had a sloppy poor first quarter/half against the Pies which stands out because in every other game he has been excellent.

Viney, Brayshaw, vandenBerg, Kent, Hogan...finally some players that just love it rough and tough.

DEE-RUBBING by George on the Outer

For the second week in a row, the Demons had to endure some particularly oppressive match conditions — this time, playing in 30 degree temperatures at the MCG, following the humid sticky Sydney atmosphere of last week.   The warmer conditions didn’t seem to worry the Dee’s since the ball was so much easier to handle, and handle it with surety they did in handing out a 45 point drubbing to the much fancied Western Bulldogs.   After a slow start that saw the Dogs out to

CROSSING THE PICKETT LINE by The Oracle

Melbourne’s performance in losing its Round Zero contest in Sydney has certainly caused the club, the coach and the players to come firmly under the watchful eye of the football world and exposed all of its aspects to a microscopic lens.   Much of the commentary surrounding them has been less than complimentary and, while some might argue that this is unfair after only one round, leaving aside some of the scuttlebutt that surrounds a lot of the discussion around the game, a fair amoun
