Who cares?! The fans need to snap out of this loser mentality as much as the players do!

The difference is, what else can we do about it other than mope and drive ourselves insane?

IN: Dawes, Fitzy

OUT: Michie, Pedo

We all know what's happening end of season, what the hell is the point in another week of swapping Michie for Bail?!

Posted

Lets face facts this year is a dead loss in climbing the ladder, its about improving and working towards a better 2016. Not saying we should be tanking, but we need to be doing what is best to get this team working correctly and cohesively for the future, if that means dropping players who are not following instructions, playing to their potential etc then so be it. Play players who want to play and who we need to get more games into so that they are much more able to stand the rigors of AFL football next year.

We've said that for how many years in a row now?!

Grimes wasn't anywhere near as bad as some of our other players today. He doesn't deserve to be dropped. And Terlich hasn't earned a recall.

Duh,why pick Harmes? who is he suppose to be better than out of the usual "stock" rotations i.e Grimes,Minchie,Riley etc

We did well to have 12 shots on goal

Out: Riley, Pedersen, Michie

FB: Fitzy Dunn Jetta

HB: Grimes McDonald Lumumba

C: Toumpas Jones Cross

HF: Harmes Hogan Watts

FF: Garlett Dawes Howe

Foll: Gawn Viney Vince

Int: Tyson Stretch Brayshaw
S: ANB

Our half forward line has suffered a pretty heavy injury toll with vanders, Kent, JKH, Petracca all out. But it's evident that the likes of Riley, Michie, Matt Jones and Bail just aren't right for that spot. So lets give Harmes a go. May as well keep ANB as sub for the same reasons.

Sounds like Dawes has to come back. And Fitzy is probably needed against the cats tall forward line. He doesn't really help the skills of the backline but maybe Grimes and Lumumba can offer more up the ground with Fitzy providing deeper cover.

the likelihood is both clark and stanley won't play.

they'll have blicavs with probably kersten probably offering a bit of support in the ruck (it was his role once stanley was crocked against port), with hawkins and walker as the kpp's up forward, given that it's likely both stanley and clark will miss.

pedersen is gone - likely a broken wrist. dawes straight back in.

riley doesn't impact the play and turns it over. michie turns it over. one of them will go. anb and stretch both looked a bit behind the pace of afl, i'd expect one of them will go.

i was hoping newton might show some strength in the contest and tackling intensity at casey level, but from reports it sounds like he copped a nasty concussion, so i imagine will miss. i'd prefer matt jones and bail were nowhere near selection, but what other options are there? i don't think we need fitz against a smaller geelong forward line.

Don't think Roos has had much choice Dee having already played 35 players approx half way through the season.

I think he is just rotating through many players that are unlikely to be big on his favorites list just to be 100% sure that he is making the right decision in trading/delisting them ie., giving everyone a fair go before the next big clean out as well as looking to fill in the jigsaw with the appropriate player type required to fill the massive gaps. He would also not want to overlook someone who may well be a 200 plus gamer at another club!

I just hope in the next lot of draft selections he picks a VERY serious leader as well as a potential star a la Hodge/Selwood. I think the criteria of the next group to come through needs to be as much about character/leadership qualities as it is about talent/grunt if we are to ever get off the bottom.

Posted

Why would you drop Lumumba? Does some crazy things at times but often he's the only one giving us run off half back. One of his better games today.

Lumumba was awful today. He runs into trouble and then kicks it to the opposition.

Posted

Didn't mind Stretch today, felt that it was his best game so far and he's starting to get used to it.

Unless there's someone clearly better to come in, I'd leave him there.

You'd surely have to give ANB another chance, even as a sub.

Riley and Mitchie on the other hand ... sorry, but let's just play out the year with Matt Jones and Bail, knowing that they'll be moved on.

Injuries hurting us, we just don't have the depth.

Posted

ANB showed what he did in his first couple in the VFL, a little off the pace and bit 2 touch. Then he got the run of it.

Probably came up too early but now he's here and no one is knocking the door down we might as well leave him in and let him get used to the pace of the game at this level.

Jetta hasn't come up this year and the concussion must be a concern. I think Bail was a better player before being knocked around and it must have an effect. I hope Nev can run back into touch, we need him at the top of his game.

Posted

What's with Jetta continually flying for the big marks and spoils? Came off once today for him luckily, but I'm astounded he keeps doing this and leaving his opponent to gather the crumbs uncontested at ground level. Far from our worst though. I'd be dropping Michie in a heartbeat. Also, Gawn can go back to Casey and learn how to either mark the ball or punch the damn thing over the bloody line. How many times will he shoot our team in the foot by spilling a mark at the goal mouth? I think ANB looks way off the pace and should go back to Casey as well.

In: Spencer, M Jones, Fitzpatrick, Terlich

Out: Gawn (omit), Michie (omit), ANB (omit), Pedersen (inj)

Alternatively, as we are stuck with M Jones and Terlich until next season, maybe we bring in Bail and McKenzie to see if they have what it takes to salvage their AFL careers.

Great scheduling by the AFL giving Geelong an extra 2 day break and us a Sunday twilight game

And making it yet another visit to the cattery. In the last six seasons we have played Geelong at Geelong 5 out of 6 times. One solitary game at the MCG. Where is the fairness here?

The day the board should of been sacked not the Coach!!

One thing I know is. That I am heading down to Geelong mext week to watch my first game of AFL ever down there.

And hopefully this time we have 9 of the top 10 ball getters and win the game!!

Our problem is now with the depth.

Riley, ANB , Michie were passengers. Garlett went missing. Howe is just doing enough and no more.

Out: Pedersen, Michie, Riley and possibly ANB

In: Dawes, Fitz, M.Jones and Terlich?

Agree with you here.Fitzpatrick is a must to help out down back and to help ruck. Dawes in for Pedo is like for like, and ANB to get the vest. If a mid is dropped Bail will come in having played well at Casey, but I feel they will go with minimal changes this week.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
