Jones - inspiring in bursts
Dunn - marshalled defence effectively
Hogan - finally a target
Watts - confident and creative
Toumpas - 3 great quarters
Viney - some crucial turnovers
Lumumba - rarely imbued confidence
Brayshaw - surprisingly poor disposal
Gawn - may have arrived
Tyson - slow decision making
Stretch - far from ready
Cross - inspiring and determined
Pedersen - insignificant before injury
Michie - had no impact
Vince - prolific and creative
McDonald - loose and erratic
Riley - just a game
Neal-Bullen - was totally overawed
Grimes - slow to react
Garlett - probably wasn't playing
Howe - another cameo performance

Michie: worse than (insert) bail or m jones

Neal-Bullen: probably wasn't ready

Grimes: genuinely a liability

Toumpas: continues to impress

Roos: flood the backline

Can't understand the Grimes comment - thought he played a very good game

agreed, he didn't do a single thing wrong. Some folks just make their minds up about players and ignore what actually happens on the field

You are way off line with Grimes. He showed why he should never been dropped.

In terms of using the ball it was his best game, in terms of one on one contests and keeping his opponent under wraps I think it was pretty poor and usually it's the other way around.

I have been a fan of Grimes for the most part, but today he consistently looked slow against every opponent

I think it proved to me a bit more why Salem has been selected ahead of him.

He is not able to play on the smalls, just seemed to consistently lose his opponent

agree, beaten early on but fought it out over last 3/4

forgot Jetta who was getting back to his best, give him another week and he will beat any small fwd again. A bit concerned about his head knock when he landed from that mark.

Grimes was very good tonight, Garlett extremely ineffective.

Toumpas' best game for the club and he's on his way to being a good player I believe.

Jones, Vince, Viney and Brayshaw all pretty admirable in the middle at times.

Watts - third man up!

Brayshaw - a tackling machine

Toumpas - best game yet

Hogan - enter the Dragon!

The one where he outmarked Gawn? Great effort from Nev, but Max should have swallowed that one whole ...

Gawn: take a mark

Just watched the replay and saw 5 contested marks that he literally had in his hands, but couldn't hold onto. Not good enough for a ruckman - essentially our number one ruckman.

Yep, another one here raising an eyebrow at the Grimes criticism. We know he's no star, but it was a solid game with no significant mistakes that I spotted. He is in decent form at the moment, I hope it can continue as I like him.

Thought joeboy was harsh on Viney and Brayshaw too, but I understand that it's hard to capture the essence of a whole game in three words.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
