Christian Petracca - Future Stars

Pre-season starts now!

Okay, jumping the gun a little, but if he's starting running now, that bodes well for being in full running form by the beginning of actual pre-season. Exciting stuff.

And it means that 4 months away from pre season he can really gradually build his running up til Xmas.

I'm sure they will be reigning him back, I bet he will be trying to get out there asap.

If hes running now they should have him ready for a few Casey games and maybe an MFC debut at the tail end of the season.

For a first year player, that's not a great idea and I'd be astonished if he were to play any sort of competitive footy this year.

The fact that he's running now is great but he's still miles off being able to perform any high intensity high impact sport..

His muscles surrounding the knee including the calf, hamstring, quad and glute need a huge amount of conditioning before he plays a match.

As stated by previous posters, it's great that he's running but he's still got a mountain to climb and we won't be seeing him this year. He's a first year player/kid.

I should have said I was kidding. Editing it with a smiley now

No. No. No.

Stupid idea, gradually build him so he does no hamstrings and builds his strength in his graft.

I actually hope he plays 1/2 game at casey development in their first practice match, builds to a few casey games early in their season and looks at a MFC debut 1/4 - 1/2 way though the AFL season.

Couldnt think of a worst possible thing they could do.

What benefit is it for him to rush into the end of the year to play a few meaningless games? Are people not realizing he is coming back from a serious knee injury and their is far great risk he could potentially re do his ACL again. You have to give these kind of injuries lots of time to recover and plus the strengthening that goes into it.

Plus Paul Roos will NOT allow this to happen

He did his ACL on the 16th of Feb.

So he's back to running in 4 months but to play in a game he'd have to be back within 6.5 months. That's completely out of line with any other recovery from an ACL in AFL.

The good news should be in his mental recovery as much as physical. If he gets through the rest of the season training he can probably take an end of season break with the rest of the players and whilst he'll be on a modified program he can start preseason with a focus to playing just like the rest of the group.

Man did you just get roasted for a joke. Cost of not ending it with obvious emoticons.

It's the cost of posting something as a joke, that sounds exactly like the sort of thing he would say when serious.

A very confident and rounded young man - oozes leadership. IF we can get him, AB, JH (and the other best 22s currently on the injury list) all up and running together we will look a whole lot better.

Something real to look forward to after all these decades of disappointment.

I know a quite a few people here have doubts on Missen, but I suspect that they will spend a lot of time on working on his quadriceps, his hamstrings, and doing a lot of straight line running, and not have him doing any twisting or impact work at all at least until the preseason.

It would be absolutely pointless risking him in lower level games for zero gain this year. Unlike many of his predecessors, he has a very well developed body and as soon as his knee has fully recovered he should be ready to make an impact at AFL level.

I'll pretend to be 'old dee' and say: "maybe, if we don't lose them to other clubs after a few more years being a cellar team". :o

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
