Do you want to put a rider on that?

...at the moment?

...in bad form?

...with bad calves?

Or is it a case of Dawes?

As you know I'm not a fan.

I would have a serious look at how he sits in the mix as we rebuild the list and the answer maybe to move him on.

As for this weeks game, his form has been poor and he doesn't deserve to come straight back into the team.

A fit and rested Tyson will make a massive difference this week. Our best clearance player. Riley will also assist at stoppages.

We can't play Michie, Riley and Newton all in the one team. We are not the quickest team as it is. These 3 in at once will make us snail-like.

If Dunn does not have a license from coaches to use the torpedo for kick-ins he should be dropped for 'individual/selfish play'.

If he does have a license he should get a talking to. It was a terrible decision at that stage of the game! Not because it didn't work and started the momentum swing but because it was a very high risk/very low reward choice.

Showed no game smarts at all.

The torpedo was either undisciplined or dumb. Either way it was poor leadership!

Also, his form has been very ordinary all year. Tragically we have no-one fit enough to come in so he can go back to Casey for a few weeks. Alas, he will be selected.

This is Collingwoods line up from last week. Using what players they played on last week this is how I would see it. These are the match ups I would run with. Yes, I'd give a couple of guys another go even with their form, I just think this is our best team on paper with everyone doing what they are supposed to.

Effectively;

In: Tyson, Newton

Out: Bail, MJones

  • 8 Tom Langdon/Watts
  • 16 Nathan J. Brown/Hogan
  • 26 Marley Williams/Garlett

  • 34 Alan Toovey/Howe
  • 45 Jack Frost/Pedersen
  • 6 Tyson Goldsack/Newton

  • 43 Adam Oxley/vandenBerg
  • 36 Dane Swan/Cross(Tagged)
  • 40 Paul Seedsman/Jones

  • 5 Jamie Elliott/Garland
  • 9 Jesse White/Dunn
  • 22 Steele Sidebottom/Lumumba(Taking resting mid)

  • 15 Jarrod Witts/Fitzpatrick(Taking resting ruck)
  • 32 Travis Cloke/McDonald
  • 11 Jarryd Blair/Jetta

Followers

  • 4 Brodie Grundy/Spencer
  • 25 Jack Crisp/Tyson
  • 10 Scott Pendlebury/Vince(Tagged)

Interchange

  • 1 Alex Fasolo/Grimes
  • 13 Taylor Adams/Brayshaw
  • 18 Travis Varcoe/Viney

Subs

  • 35 Jordan De Goey/Toumpas

will JHK be fit to play? Could use his speed and creativity across half forward

Salem and JKH 2 weeks off according to Misson.

Dawes a week off, Tyson to play, Frost and Kent another 4-6. Jamar not mentioned or listed so presumably he will play VFL again.

Think that just leaves Trenners and Petracca.

Slowly edging back to our best side.

Sorry, my memory failed me in the one minute between reading the article and posting - he said July for Kent so it's more like 4.

With exception of injured pair Salem and Tyson i am struggling to see how the addition of any of the players that did not play last weekend will have any effect on our chance of winning against the Pies.

The most positive I can think is that we can lose by less than ten goals.

Another great miss match will occur on Monday.

Not sure how long we can keep having non events on QB and retain the game.

That is so totally off the mark

I would name all 8 of them and we would be a completely different side

Yes, I would include Dawes

Agree with Curry, think you're a bit off here.

Frost and Kent both give us run and defensive pressure.

JKH gives us creativity.

Trengove would give us composure ( I think, what does he look like again?)

So add them to Tyson and Salem (and Viney who barely played last week) and were appreciably better.

I didn't even mention the potential of petracca.

No argument but they are long term injuries and not available some till 2016.

Tyson and Salem are a rough chance.

Of the players available for next wekend I can see none that will improve the side.

You going OD?

No decision yet Bbo.

Some possible family events on Monday 50/50 at present.

Not sure I want so see another 10+ goal loss

Drinking Pino with my sister at Newham looks like an attractive alternative.

Can't argue with that. I have a problem though. Biffen got wind that I was going and is trying to get a free ticket.

Could you invite him to your sister's winery so that I don't get stuck with the freeloading bas tard?

It is a fairly genteel affair Bbo

I fear he would find it rather boring.

Besides we only have about 20 dozen bottles may not be enough for Biff

That's funny OD. Biff has a (stolen) tweed jacket which he thinks gives him some class/status. You have mentioned "genteel" which is exactly what the tweed jacket means.to him.. He is all yours!!

And if our guy had grabbed the one on one (can't remember who it was) and ran on to goal it would have been a stroke of genius.

IIRC he did something similar the previous week, successfully, and was lauded for it.

Such a fine margin between success and failure.

And of course far easier in retrospect

    TRAINING: Tuesday 28th May 2024

Veteran Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin returned to the training track to bring you the following observations from Gosch's Paddock this morning. Beautiful morning for training. The dew has dried, out from AAMI, quiet chatting. Maysie does his heart symbol. 7 in rehab, Turner, Hore, Sestan, BBB, Petty, Spargo and Schache. All in runners. Melky weighted and change of angles work. Salem has his individual program. White cap (no contact), Howes, Woewodin and Sparrow

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
