Port Melbourne v Casey Scorpions

KC from Casey

Recommended Posts

Alex Neal-bullen 24 disposals and Mitch White 21 disposals.

Definitely some good signs here. ANB is showing his ball winning ability lately which is something to build on because if he keeps his form up he might debut sooner then later.

Good to see pigdog have a good game aswell.

Who played more time in the ruck, Gawn or Jamar? Was interested to see if Gawn got more hitouts playing number 2. Any word on Fitz?

Whilst it's promising that young players like ANB and White got a few possessions, I'd treat them with a grain of salt. It's seems that Casey play a similar style to MFC, which is understandable, but unfortunately that style involves players racking up stats that don't impact the game.

Our rucks had a combined 67 hitouts. Riley and McKenzie must have fed off the ruckmen, but both players are totally ineffectual with ball in hand. Casey only kicked 7 goals against a stand alone VFL club that lost alot of their better players in the off-season. That's a disgrace.

Really?? The MFC is 18th for kicks, handballs, disposals. I don't see a lot of padding for stats there.

The AFL team are currently ranked 18th in the competition (ie, last) for disposals. So what you are saying is to ignore any high possession games because the game style of those players is similar to the style of a team that does not get high possessions.

That is completely illogical.

Interesting that neither Jamar or Gawn named amongst the better Casey players.

Jamar seems to be at the end and Gawn has never got started.

Says a lot about our list

Gawn was well held by Lucas Cook

I must admit, while 21 and 24 touches are nice, it is likely that that would translate to 10 or 15 touches at afl.

I would like to see some 30+ possession games from some of the casey players.

I'd like to see some 30+ possessions at Senior AFL level!!!!

We haven't had ONE this year. When was the last time we had someone that could rack up 30 stats with regularity? Junior? (its not the be all and end all but we are currently 18th in disposals). We need someone to get the pill.

I have high hopes for White. If he can get his body right to play AFL he has all the tools to be a really good attacking HBF for us. His intercept marking is good, he has the courage to take a high mark in front of oncoming players and risk getting flattened and his kicking is all class. Decent pace too from what I've seen. The question has always been whether he can stand up to the physical side of the game or if his body will fail him. I think they need to be a bit more coutious with him and make sure to build him up physically before they put him into the firsts, but he could be a great players for us.

Stole it of the sporting pulse website DL :)

Yep, good, nice work...

I wonder if the IT brains trust here on d'land know how to make a template like that green oval, which we could use for our teams? would make things more appealing/interesting

ANB 24 possies... good signs early from him

Mitchell Whites stats are good too... anyone seen him play? What sort of player would you say he is?

Michael Hibberd type.

from the Mfc website

MELBOURNE has finalised its list for 2015, after claiming Dandenong Stingrays defender Mitchell White in Wednesday’s NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

White capped off a fine year in the TAC Cup, winning the club champion award.

“Mitchell predominantly played as a rebound defender, culminating in a best and fairest for the Stingrays this year. He’s a long, raking left-foot kick, who has really good defensive nous,” national recruiting manager Jason Taylor told melbournefc.com.au.

Melbourne now has a full list of 44 players for 2014, including 40 on its primary list and four rookies.

Who would you promote out of White or Harmes? Both seem to be acquitting themselves ok.

Harmes by a canter. White and King are a long way from playing AFL this year. Nothing against either of those 2 and have big hopes for both but they are still boys with a lot of growing to do =)

Have to agree that Harmes is ahead. I think White is probably the better prospect long term, but he's not ready yet and I think he's got some work to do on his body.

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form
