Isn't the impact of your brain crashing against your skull what's doing the damage? I don't think a helmet would have any effect on that.

basically, yes

it's also a repetition type injury where the damage aggregates with subsequent hits

a helmet might avoid a skull fracture by absorbing energy but not the concussion to the brain tissue.

The helmet would reduce the force to your head though and thereby reduce any brain 'movement'. The helmet would compress slightly on impact and increase the time for which the force acts on the player's head. This creates a smaller average force.

Would it help if the helmet had ivory horns?

don't know if this is so, but our main aim should be to build the list & make the right choices at this stage of our team development... so If Jetta has to miss another just to be safe, I'm OK with another player getting a chance to show if he's up to it, or not.

we have to shed some more players at years end & we are now into the meat of the season, where most players are up to speed now, so its the time IMO, to see who's able to cut 'the Keens Mustard' thus far, & who can't do it beyond here.

Cut 'em out, ride 'em in,

Ride 'em in, let 'em out,

Cut 'em out, ride 'em in

Thanks for that. Frankie Laine was always my favourite singer. Great masculine voice.

Creates a marginally smaller average force, it's really quite minuscule.

Dunstall wore one for a few years after Earl Spalding fractured his skull accidentally. It didnt work for Jason either he has been speaking jibberish since he retired.

Looks like he might have swallowed it as well. Been in a good paddock that bloke.

Good to see a training thread go of topic in a positive (humorous) way.

Really clever stuff.

The Helmut would be on a hiding to nothing trying to protect that melon

Sorry I have been offline since yesterday and didn't see that post, I will go as far as saying it was Wiseblood altering one of my posts, seems to enjoy doing that, of course from behind the safety of his keyboard

Excuse me? I altered one post in the Petracca thread that I quoted, I have no idea where you're pulling this from.

Edit - And I'll be waiting here for an apology. I can't alter your own posts, I can only do it when it's quoted and as you'll see this is the first post I've had in this thread. You can retract your above post any time you like, but if you want to make an accusation then at least get it right first.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
